Woooowooo... We made it, we have begun our week of exploration and partyation. Haha. It took us a bus ride from monovale to manly, a ferry from manly to the city and a train from the harbour to the ariport...oh, and let's not forget the flight from sydney to the gold coast; but we are finally here! We've been pretty busy over the past few days and realize we haven't sent any recent updates. Well, the weather hasn't been quite as amazing as we've grown used to. Both Chris and I developed common colds and were doing a lot of sitting around watching movies: Harsh Times (insane movie), and Die Another Day (James Bond Rules). Well now, today was an eventful day! We woke up at 7:30am so that we could get downtown for 9am to pay a visit to the India Consulate located in downtown Sydney. The bus ride wasnt too long but when we finally arrived, there were already about 100 people waiting, lame. For some reason, the consulate is ONLY open from 9:30am - 12:30pm, so I can't say we were too surprised about the number of people. We decided to just grab our numbers and leave. We realize we haven't actually shown you photos of where we've been staying these past two weeks so I've decided it's about time. As well, we've included some photos of the house just to give you the picture of how awesome this place truly is. We're staying with my aunt and uncle and cousins, here in mona vale. It's a suburb about an hour outside of downtown sydney though it's just in the centre of some beautiful northern beaches. Woke up at 8am to get ready for the second day of hiking... not a problem. Our room smelled of old greek salad, yum. We ate breakfast, cleaned out our rooms, and checked out from the hostel. We drove a few minutes to "Scenic World", our starting point for this hike. To get into the valley, we had to take this rail car, no biggie. Now, the track that the car runs on is famous because it is the STEEPEST track in the world. The Blue Mountains of New South Wales are beautiful in both landscape and wildlife. They're the remnants of millions of years of erosion by a small stream that runs throughout them. What's been left are huge canyons that fall off straight cliffs and leave walking tracks for the world to enjoy, we took off with the family to take full advantage of them. Only an hour and half car ride out of Sydney, we drove up to Katoomba, a small town on the shore of the Blue Mountains. Wow, this place is amazing. Manly is a small town off the shore of the northern beaches which has recently become huge for young travelers to visit frenquently. It's only a 20 minute ferry ride from Sydney and the beach is absolutely beautiful. You can find beautiful scenery, weather and...women, all over the place. The restaurants are in large variety and the shops are sweet as peaches, (sweet term eh?). We left around 11am and took the bus out towards this town we've heard so much about. Finally, a day to sleep in... even though we've only worked two days so far, its been hard work. At 11am Graham took us to his hand-made sail boat and we sailed for a few hours to Palm Beach. The wind was cool and stable and the waters were calm, perfect conditions. When we arrived at the beach we archored, set up the sun canopy and ate lunch. Cheese, pita, hommus (yes hOmmos, thats how we roll down undah), and corn chips. Eating on a sail boat, on the ocean, is something everyone should do. We highly recommend it. Woke up pretty early this morning. Evan had trouble sleeping last night due to a cold he got, we believe, from Jesse. Decided to go into downtown Sydney for the day, check out some touristy things. After finally figuring out which bus to take, and getting some change for bus fare, we made it downtown. It truly is a beautiful city, very clean and fashionable? there were ZERO gangsters, thugs, New York Yankee caps, baggy jeans, or oversized hoodies. Everyone is very well dressed.
