Strolling through the Botanical Gardens of Edge Hill makes you look deep inside of yourself and ask, "Why is there no water fountain? It's so hot! Why don't they put a swimming pool somewhere?!" Though, finally once your body has been satisfied and it's thirst is quenched, its a beautiful place to gaze upon rainforest and wildlife. Our second last day in Cairns was spent quite organized. First we efficiently woke up late, then we very independantly walked into Edghill to buy pies. After completing the task, we took a long overdue, well-deserved rest infront of the television/computer screen. [View Full Entry]

We were told by so many aussies that a snorkel in Great Barrier Reef is the best thing to do in Cairns, we had to give in. So, we took off on the cheapest day trip we could find in search of a sea turtle and a reef shark. Who would have known? We found both. The day was as good as any you could have asked for and the water was warm as a bath. Chris and I jumped in with the highest of hopes and we were not disappointed. At the end of the day we had to admit [View Full Entry]

Leah, who we're staying with, offered to drive us up north to the Rainforest to check it out. Uh, yes! We woke up nice and early, ate some toast and left in the Saab. The drive was beautiful, the roads were winding around cliffs along the edge of the ocean, Leah admits it is her favourite road to drive. The forest was stunning, it was much like a sauna when walking through it, we were sweating a lot. The Rainforest was a first for both of us, and it was quite the experience: the trees, the plants, the sounds, mind-blowing. We [View Full Entry]

14, 000 feet above the ground, about to jump out of a plane and all i could think about was whether i should eat pizza or pie for lunch. That is until the plane door slid open and i was three seconds away from being thrown out with a complete stranger attached to my back. I've always wanted to do it, i've dreamt about freeflight in midair for a minute and i decided the time was now. While Chris sat back at home worrying to death about me, i was flying in a bush plane with four strangers wearing lingerie and [View Full Entry]

We were there about a week and we were in Airlie Beach for almost 2, but we've decided it's just about time to leave. We're headed farther north to Cairnes, face the worst heat waves on the planet...Yeaaah! Though, again, we thought that you might like to see the place that we've spent our recent days in. My second cousin Hugh, lives in Cannonvale, a suburb right outside of Airlie Beach. I wouldn't go so far as to say that its the most hip/happening place in the world, actually its probably the farthest from it. Hugh lives in his company owned [View Full Entry]

Life on an island is paradise, or at least our island was. Long Island, situated about 20 minutes from the mainland and right in the heart of the Whitsunday Islands. When we arrived after our long day of sailing, it was the perfect spot for us to sit back and relax. We took advantage of the the hot tub and pool (with pool bar) of course. The night came quickly and for the first time in our lives, we saw a wallabee. Which basically looks exactly like a mini kangaroo. We decided to have an early bedtime, but not before we [View Full Entry]

We decided that while we're here in Airlie Beach, we have to do a sailing trip. They are very popular here... as a matter of fact, if you are not on a sailing trip, there's not much else to do here. We signed up with the Camira, one of the world's largest and fastest catamarans for a sailing trip and an overnight on Long Island for $140. Good deal. We got a lift from Hugh to Airlie at around 6am, early, so we got breakfast at Brumby's Bakery. Yum. The Whitsundays Travel Shuttle Bus picked us up and took us to [View Full Entry]

After four long, boring, painful days, i'm finally out of the hospital. Though, i can't say i'm feeling 100%. We decided to take it easy today and just rest our bodies (mine especially), so we took to the streets to look for a nice place to dip in the ocean and lie on the beach. After walking down the main street for a little while we began to follow the sweet boardwalk that lead us to this cute market. The vendors sold everything from Jewelry, Clothing, Food and even TV Satellite dishes! I was tempted to buy a foxtel 500, though [View Full Entry]

We arrived at the Whitsundays Airport on Monday the 3rd. The Airport was the smallest one I've ever seen. No terminals, one gate, and it was outside! Baggage claim was also outdoors. It was extremely hot, but Evan was getting cold chills so he couldn't tell. We got in a Maxi Cab and paid 15 dollars each to get to the Airlie Beach hostel... so far, that is the cheapest cab ride we've had. There was no Aircon (air conditioning) in the back of the cab, it was broken, so we had to suffer, Evan especially. It was obvious now that [View Full Entry]

Now that we've been here for about four days, i guess you could say we've grown used to life here. We wake up somewhat late and head straight to the kitchen for a filling meal of either crackers, or chinese noodles...yes that's right, we eat them for every meal. When we got here, we had high hopes of eating delicious gourmet meals that we would could cook all ourselves, sadly, we were once again mistaken. The grocery store is so expensive and all we can afford are chinese noodls, bread and some milk. MMmmmm, good. Well, here are some pictures displaying [View Full Entry]
