And finally, my last destination where I flew out from on November 9th 2009. San Francisco is a beautiful, lively and interesting city and it was an awesome ending for my trip. At this point I'd like to thank all the great people I've met during the trip, the ones that helped me out, the ones that hosted me, the ones that talked to me and shared some time and the ones that gave me some warmth and friendship. ... read more

After Sequoia National Park and Mojave Desert I drove to Anaheim where I stayed a few days with Ronnie, a great man whom I'm glad to call my friend. Two Halloween parties, a visit to the beach, some excellent restaurants, a gospel service, Disney Land and a white-Russian-Big-Lebowski night with Chad, another great couchsurfer from Anaheim. All in all a highlight of my journey.... read more

Down the coast I dropped Sam (my co-traveller) in Santa Rosa where I stayed one night in a cheap motel. The next day I drove through the famous Napa Valley (cf. the movie sideways ;) to end up at Yosemite National Park. They brought me gas and I drove to my hostel which was already closed for the night so I had to sleep one more night at a motel. The next night I could enjoy the warmth of the Yosemite Bug Hostel, with a nice wellness area (hot tub and sauna), a good restaurant and some nice people to enjoy a beer with later in the ... read more

From Bend I drove to Coos Bay and then I took the coastal highway down to northern California. A beautiful road past wild pacific shores and huge red woods. Arcata is a hippie town where I met e few nice people. Nearby I went to see a tree village where environmental activists sit and live on huge ancient trees to protect them from being logged. ... read more

After the Hot Springs I drove to Bend on October 21st. Bend was extremely beautiful and refreshing. Colorful fall weather and again some really great people that crossed my way. Among them a lady with Luxembourgish origins ;) I bumped into accidentally one evening when I got lost on my way to my great couchsurfing hosts Elizabeth and Brandon (and their housemates Jennifer and Chuck). We connected instantly and I regret that I couldn't spend more time with them. ... read more
