Went for a hike with Mazi's fam through Kam Shan park in Kowloon. We caught a short bus from Mong Kok up to the hillside and walked through the park down into town. The park is also known as Monkey Mountain because of the released monkeys that populated the area. Apparently the numbers are a lot fewer compared to when Mazi was little due to a campaign to educate people not to feed them but we still saw a lot (pretty cute!). It was a nice reprieve from the heat as it was a lot cooler in the forested area. Was [View Full Entry]

Did an excursion to Macau overnight. We caught the hour long jetfoil ferry and stayed at the Hotel Golden Dragon. We also had tickets to the Cirque du Soleil show "Zaia" at the Venetian Macau Hotel and Casino. This was Geoff's first Cirque du Soleil experience, and it was frankly, amazing. The hotels and casinos weren't necessarily the highlight feature of the city but they were very impressive. The Venetian attached to the Four Seasons was like a city in its self with hundreds of shops, and restaurants. Even a mock up of a European city complete with restaurants with patios, [View Full Entry]

We arrived in Hong Kong Monday evening after a 14 hour flight, luckily the plane was half empty so we had room to stretch our legs. When we arrived we were greeted by beaming smiles from Mazi's family who had graciously come to pick us up and deliver us to our temperorary home in Mong Kok with Mazi's Aunt and Uncle. We have since been enjoying the sites and gorging on all kinds of food including Uncle Ejeung's delicious scallops which were purchased from the market near his home. Our site seeing has brought us to the waterfront and downtown districts [View Full Entry]

We have packed up what's left of our belongings and we have travelled home for pre-trip visits with friends and family. Mazi and I travelled back to our native BC. Geoff travelled home to Nelson and Mazi moved on to visit her parents in Summerland. Together we got a ride from my mom to the lower mainland. We have a few last minute items to tidy up and some more visiting (including family dinners for both sides, yum!!) and then we're off to catch our flight to Hong Kong on Sunday, September 14th. Pictures and more to come! [View Full Entry]
