One day we will no longer exist on this earth. We will be just a memory to a select few. We should make sure those memories are good... how we touched them, how we made them feel.
This will be what we leave behind, this will be our legacy...that we made a difference in someone's life, our gift to the ones we Love and to the world

So we are now back in KL after a 5hr bus ride back along the same winding road. We arrived back at around 10pm and Mazen helped carry the luggage as Maher was still under the weather. We have checked back into birdnest guesthouse as its cheap at RM35 a night. We took a day trip to Genting Highlands; otherwise known as resorts world genting. its locsted on the top of a fill accessed by cable car. It is nestled on a mountain peak of around 1,860 metres (6,100 ft) within the titiwangsa mountains on the border between the states of pahang and Selangor. Resorts World Genting is operated by Genting Malaysia Berhad (formerly known as Resorts World Bhd), which also operates a number of resorts & hotels. There are a number of theme parks there ... read more

Today after another breakfast of Nasi Lemak and Maher feeling a little under the weather, maybe a cold from the drop in temperatures from KL to Cameron Highland; we were picked up at 08.45 for our 1/2 day tour. We first visited the butterfly farm where there were some of the most beautiful and biggest species of butterfly I have ever seen, along with an array of other animals from leaf frog to scorpions! We then stopped at the tea plantation where we could see 600acres of tea plants being harvested by 200 workers. The plantation dating back to 1929 was and still is owned by a Scottish family and harvested every 3 weeks by foreigners. From there we headed to the moss forest where we got to see a variety of medicinal plants and things ... read more

We woke at 5am this morning to take the 6 hour bus ride to cameron highlands. Maher picked up nasi lemak and teh Tarik ice for breakfast which we ate and drank whilst waiting for the bus The bus wasn't a VIP bus but a squeaky, near brakeless bus! I sleep most of the journey, thankfully seems the closer we got to the cameron highlands the more the road wound round the mountain side, round and round and round and round. It seems I have found an excellent pillow in my super comfy husband! A little worse for wear with lack of sleep and a touch of travel sickness we arrived at the bus stop in cameron highlands where I went in search of accommodation. All quite similar I opted for the double room with shared ... read more

This morning we went to an Indian restaurant nearby for breakfast I had banana roti and Maher had nasi lemak. From there we booked afternoon high tea for 4pm and then headed out to the botanical gardens. Afternoon high tea was nice; a selection of sandwiches, cakes, cookies, fruit and lots of tea. A nice little ‘date’ We have booked the 6hr bus ride to Cameron Highlands for tomorrow at 7am, so an early start as we have to walk to Komtar again, at least it won’t be in the blazing sun this time. We both have a little sunburn, but are having a nice break away together. When the sun goes down we are going for a walk to the water front where he plans to do a little fishing J Love to all xx ... read more

So, finally the opportunity to travel again, only this time with my ‘husband’ We spent a few nights in KL at a different Guesthouse, Birds nest, a good place to say it was fan only. Also cheap at RM35 per nt for a double room. We then took the bus (5hrs) to Penang and he slept all the way here!! Lol, scrap that I think it was me; at least I had a good pillow J He passed the time watching his oh so loved animation. We finally arrived and then had to take another, long bus ride into Georgetown and then we walked from Komtar to Red Inn Heritage Guesthouse. He was not impressed, he carried most of the bags, and we had LOTS of them; all the way, see what a nice guy I ... read more

I have not updated this for a little while so here goes. Maher's brother Mazen arrived in KL a few days ago and it's been a nice bit of respite for me. A bit of company whilst Maher is working and we've had a few trips out, to Wangsa Maju and in search of a SIM for him and to Damansara Heights. Although I have met him before, it was before my relationship with Maher, so it was nice getting to know him as a brother-in-law this time. At 32 he is the eldest of the four siblings and really easy to get along with, very down to earth. We went out last night to an Arabic Restaurant in Shah Alam, that took 1 hour on the train. Mazen has a friend from Syria working there ... read more

We have finally put our heads together and have started to make some decisions. We are looking at returning to the UK. Maher would like to pursue his dream of opening his own business in jewelry design (www.designsmaher.com) whilst also pursuing his hobby in 3D animation. I would like to get back into real estate; the industry i know so well and am successful in. We are not sure if this is where we would like to base ourselves long term, and at the moment it is doubtful, but it would give us a safe grounding temporarily whilst we look at our options for the long-term. From a (long term) family point of view, we would like a more laid back lifestyle when the time comes, similar to that of SE Asia. The one thing travel ... read more

img=http://thewanderlustproject.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/tumblr_lkjz17utoF1qgjo83o1_500_large.png So, this is it. The time has come. I've been based in KL since October 2012 and although I had a 'holiday' to Australia, KL has been my main base. I found a job, I left the job (already explained why in my previous blogs) I got engaged and we are now looking to move on and settle somewhere new. Mainly due to the employment situation here, I know it is not so good worldwide but there must be more opportunities out there. The difficult thing is that when you've lived the life of a backpacker and then spent some time effectively retired (lol) it's difficult to get back into the mind set of moving somewhere new to settle. You see, this was never my intention the first time round. I left to travel, to ... read more

I’m a little late on hearing this news... “I am in politics because of the conflict between good and evil, and I believe that in the end good will triumph.” Margaret Thatcher “If my critics saw me walking over the Thames, they would say it was because I couldn’t swim.” Margaret Thatcher The “Iron Lady” of British politics, who set Britain on a rightward economic course, led it to victory in the Falklands war and helped guide the United States and the Soviet Union through the cold wars difficult last years, died yesterday in London at the age of 87. She was the first woman to become prime minister of Britain and the first to lead a major Western power in modern times. Best known to be hard-driving and hardheaded, she led her Conservative Party to ... read more
