I am Gary from San Francisco, CA. My first trip to mi Paraiso, AKA Puerto Vallarta, Mexico was in 1979 and my, how the place has changed, many aspects for the better. I enjoy OldTown/SouthSide the best but venture by car, jeep or van north and south to the small towns and beaches. The food/dining industry is in my blood and I have assembled a Beck's Best restaurant guide which I update nearly daily and is available by email. I am so thrilled I made the decision to reverse my living situaton: live fulltime in PV and rent my San Francisc condo. So, my sandals are on the cobblestones daily and have made so many hundreds of good amigos over the 32 years of visits. It is safe, fun, beautiful and active. Come join in and feel free to email me. What's been going on... 2010 was quite a year. That is an understatement. I left Puerto Vallarta on December 11, 2009 having decided after much discussion and pondering that I would reverse my living situation. I would rent out my San Francisco condo year-long and live in my Puerto Vallarta place, which basically I could rent out only during high season, maybe 4-5 months total. I had lived in California since 1973 and in my condo since 1980, so there were quite a few items saved over the years . After the return flight, I was back in my condo in SF about one hour when I started going through items and sorting: PV immediately; PV soon; sell if possible; donate or give to friends; toss. Puerto Vallarta... Fall, 2008 The rains are beginning to wither away for some months and the visitors are starting to pack the planes into PVR for Holiday or Beach or Visit Friends. I will do all of the above. My dining guide has just been updated and uploaded to cafepress and am preparing to savor some great food from the Mom and Pop's and Taco Stands all the way up to the 5* dining establishments but fewer of those as the pesos are low! Anyone going to be in town in October or November? Post me privately and we can set up a Get Together for lunch or dinner. After almost 30 years, I have come to know a few ins and outs and a ton of people. Life is one big learning experience! Puerto Vallarta, Mexico Anybody going to tropical paradise Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in August? I plan on being there 8/1-8/11/05 staying in the SouthSide area, Playa Los Muertos. Lots of restaurants, bars, good, fun beach with palapas and drinks, music sometimes. Will be a blast!!! Gary R. Beck first visited Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in February, 1979 and knew immediately that this was a special spiritual place where many wonderful experiences would follow over the years. Educated in horticulture, his livelihood turned to the restaurant business, working as a food server and wine buyer for 20 years in San Francisco, CA.
