There is no need to get up early today as we have nothing planned until 11.00am. After a light breakfast, we headed to the cavern club on deck 6. We are attending a meet and greet and gift exchange organised by members of Cruise Critic. This is the first one of these that we have done, so not sure what to expect. For those that were participating in the gift exchange, they ask that you bring a gift relevant to where you live and had given a price of about $10. We had bought several items for our gift. Norwegian as normal had laid on a small buffet of drinks and cakes for us all which was unexpected but delightful as always. Many of key heads of departments were present and were happy to answer all ... read more

Last night was worse than the night before. There were even more trains and we both feel like we got little to no sleep. But, hey we are on a cruise for the next 20 days, so are quite happy and upbeat. This will be our second cruise on the beautiful Norwegian Epic. It is our favourite ship. It is one of the largest ships around and has some controversial setups which some people do not like. We love the set-up; hence we are spending the next three weeks aboard. It is like Marmite, you either like it or you do not. Norwegian had a promotion going when we booked this cruise in early 2016. As well as a really good price, they gave us the Ultimate Beverage Package. This would have cost us about £450.00 ... read more

We did not have a particularly good night’s sleep last night. The main East coast Florida railroad line is just on the other side of the highway and we are right close to a junction. Trains in USA can be several miles long. Every train that went past last night had to blow it´s horn repeatedly as it crossed the junction to alert local cars. As we are so close to it, each train woke us both up. We must better plan for next time. This morning, we drove into the cruise port to work out if it is feasible for Theresa to drop George off in the morning with all the bags. Unfortunately, we could not get close enough, so could not answer the question. Then we headed to the Alamo rental office where we ... read more

Today, we drove the 12 miles back down south to Cocoa which is near to Port Canaveral. As we have completed all of our shopping, we took the I95 freeway. Every mile of the road looks the same, so we were glad to get off early at Titusville and travelling the last section on the local 1 road. Although a bit early, we persuaded the owner of the Campbell Motel to let us check in and drop off our bags. We then headed off to have a quick look around Cocoa Beach and the surrounding areas. We found a Denny´s that will be the location for our dinner tomorrow night and picked up a light lunch. For dinner today, we had planned on visiting a local diner, but when we walked up there we discovered they ... read more

Each time we walked over the bridge today we looked eagerly for the dolphins, but they did not reappear. It was great to see them yesterday though. Today, we caught the shuttle bus from stop 16 to the Alligator Farm. Neither of us knew what to expect, but we were both pleasantly surprised. The park has many huge open spaces full of alligators and crocodiles etc. Dotted around were machines where you could buy food for them for 25 cents and the animals seemed to know where these machines where. They did look to be very well looked after and fed, as they were not really that interested if you threw feed towards them. There were also a couple of areas exhibiting other animals and mammals from around the world which were very interesting. Up in ... read more

As we walked across the bridge this morning into town, everything got stopped to let up the drawbridge. It is quite a low bridge so it does not have to be a big boat to need the bridge opened. It caused a huge tailback which seemed to be there all day. Once in town, we purchased tickets for the Old town Trolley bus tours. This will give us the chance to get around all the famous sites of the city with a built in relaxed commentary. Also included was a bus for tomorrow to the nearby Alligator Farm and entry into the farm, entry into Ripley´s Believe it or Not and also a tour around the Whetstone Chocolate Factory. The trolley bus tour covers 24 stops and where we were in town meant we got on ... read more

Another small drive today, so we decided to drive from Titusville to St Augustine on the 1. It is a scenic local road, so not as fast as the freeway, but a lot more interesting to drive along. This is a road that literally has one of each shop at regular intervals along the whole length of the road. Only a small amount of shopping today, as we think we now have everything we need. Our fingers are crossed that everything we have will fit into luggage we have. We have booked into the Historic Inn for three nights so we can do a little bit of Florida touristic bits. All the shopping has been offloaded so we can start the process of packing up the extra bags. Just in case we have a little bit ... read more

Today we drove the short distance from Kissimmee to Titusville. We did a little more shopping along the way. We have two additional bags to fill with goodies to take home with us, so lots of shopping opportunities with a very different list to last time. The reason for our visit to Titusville was primarily to see the rocket launch, but we found out last night that it had been delayed, so we get to miss another rocket launch. We are in Cocoa, near to Port Canaveral, on the 24th, so will see if we can fit in a viewing then. The area around Titusville and Kennedy Space Centre is called the Space Coast and is famous for areas that are good to watch rocket launches without visiting the space centre. As we are here, we ... read more

Unfortunately, we have both had a very bad night’s sleep. There has been constant shouting very near to our door nearly all night. We are not only suffering from the effects of the transatlantic fight, but also now a bad night’s sleep. We packed up and left the hotel by about 11.00am and started the 250 mile journey to Kissimmee. With Norwegian Air, we each got only one 20kg bag to stow and one 10kg bag for hand luggage. To try to maximise the clothes we can bring with us, we have brought only enough toiletries to get us through to today. Part of our shopping over the next week will be our ongoing toiletries, the toiletries for the three weeks when we are on the cruise and also a pair of water shoes each which ... read more

After taking the hotel shuttle back to the airport, we checked in for our second Norwegian flight. This time we are flying to Fort Lauderdale on the Florida coast North of Miami. Our plane today has a tail fin dedicated to Victor Borge. It is a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner with about 300 people on board. Some statistics for the Dreamliner: - 291 seats, 2 pilots and 8 or so cabin crew. It is powered by 2 x Rolls Royce Trent 100 engines that generate 67,000 Ibs thrust per engine allowing a maximum cruise speed of 912 kilometres per hour. It is 57 metres long and 17 metres high. The flexed wing span is 60.17 metres across. We have booked a Low Fare+ ticket which included a seat booking, meals and a 20kg bag in the hold ... read more
