Day 3-4 Halong Bay Northern Vietnam Update: we worked out why we were lost 2 days ago on the streets of Hanoi. I was referencing north from seeing the sun in that direction. We finally worked out that we are in the Northern Hemisphere so the sun is in the south. Navigation will be simpler now. Wednesday morning at 6.30 Graeme walked by the nearby central lake to see the early morning activities. Mainly older folk are out early to exercise. Day 1 Melbourne - Ho Chi Min - Hanoi Power interruptions at the Melbourne airport delayed our departure but it did not dampen our excitement. Traveling Vietnam airlines was better than expected. Food was 7/10, service was 6/10 (a little officious) and in-flight entertainment was 5/10. Importantly the plane flew safely!!!. We landed in Ho Chi Minh at 5.00pm and missed our connection to Hanoi. We were hit hard by the humidity when we exited the International Terminal for a short transfer to the domestic terminal for the onward flight. It's not long to go now as we land in Hanoi on the 16th of September. Our itinerary is roughly - 5 days in hanoi with a side trip to Halong Bay. - train overnight to Hue for a couple of days - down by bus to Hoi An for a few more days - fly down to Siagon city for 5 days - fly to cambodia for 5 days to see Angkor Wat It will be 3 fabulous weeks of great family time.
