I'm Erin.
Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta Canada. I was bitten by the travel bug when I was 18- okay, I think I was born bitten by the travel bug but didnt realize it until I was 18.
Some of the places I've been:
San Carlos, Senora Mexico- fantastic 10 day roadtrip from Calgary all the way down the west coast of the USA to San Carlos and a flight home.
Shawinigan, Quebec Canada- 2 summer trips to visit a friends family- different considering I dont speak french and they didnt speak english
Cancun, Mexico- My best friend Becky and I, free flowing rum, and almost too much sun! We have to go back!
Roadtrip 2006!- Another best friend and I went for 2 weeks through Montana, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Nevada and back to Calgary! A trip of a life time! I have some of the best memeories of this one! Linda is a great friend of mine a couple of years older than me in body (about 20 years older than me) but the same age as me in soul.
Now I am on my way to Africa. Going through 7 countries on a 52 day camping overland safari, then a week in Capetown and a rest in London, and finally home. Hopefully I will see some lions and zebras and giraffes, oh my!
Stay well and happy travels!
Erin
After returning home, lots of realizations have slowly sunk in. I have been home now for almost 5 weeks and it still feels like yesterday when I came off the plane. Since coming home I have slipped into my everyday routine with far more ease than I expected. I have a full time job back in Oil & Gas at a small but fast moving company doing - you guessed it! Accounting! And reception. I really think this was the best move for me right now as I need to get my life back in order, recoup some of the expense I brought home as a souvenir and start moving my career in new directions. With the company being as small as it is I really get the opportunity to learn about every aspect of running

The plane ride wasn’t bad, but was longer and more tedious than the way over… I think I knew what I was getting into this time…. 12 hours… Man am I glad to be off that plane!!! After standing in customs line for over an hour to get my passport stamped I had the pleasure of waiting for another half hour for my baggage and then I finally get to see my friend Ross. Ross had to go into work on Friday, so I was left to take the tube into London and enjoy some of the sights on my own. I rode the tube down to Baker Street station and hopped off to check out Madame Tausads wax museum. It was pretty awesome! There was a ton to see, but

Number one the cars drive on the wrong side of the road from home, the driver’s seat is on the wrong side of the car and it is standard… try thinking about shifting with your wrong hand??!!! All of this was normal to Liz and Steph seeing as they are from Ireland and that is how they roll back home. We arrived at Cape Point and took the tram up the cliff to the lookout. We could have walked to the top, but man was it ever windy!!! I seriously think there may be days that you could get blown off that point! From the top we grabbed a couple photos of the view

We invited Steph and Liz and Cassidy to Africa Café- a really neat restaurant that specializes in all different types of African Cuisine. When you are seated they start bringing out small sample portions of food from all over Africa, if by then end of the samples you are still hungry you are welcome to ask for seconds of any of the food, there was NO way any of us were hungry after eating all that they had to offer. We also ran into Don and Laurie who were also out on their last dinner in Cape Town., turns out Cape Town is a pretty small city, seeing as that we ran

But in the end I didn’t have to worry about that at all. Steph and Liz were staying in Cape Town for a week too and were more than willing to have me join them on their escapades. I met Steph and Liz at the V&A Waterfront the next morning and we grabed the Hop-on-hop-off bus tour. It took us all around Capetown, past the District 6 museum and the Holocaust Museum, past the gold museum and other jewelry design shops and then up to Table mountain. I wish I had some photos of the view from the top, but I had left my camera

Marnie and I got back to our room around 1 a.m. after enjoying another drink with Liz and Steph in the hotel lobby and guess who calls us all down for breakfast at 7:10 a.m? Cassidy! Maybe he was getting us back for all the teasing we put him through… if so he did good, Marnie was not really in the state to be enjoying an early morning breaky. We came down and enjoyed our farewell breakfast with Cassidy and Josh and Ramona. Lots of the group were there too and we all said our good-byes. My hardest good-bye was to come later that afternoon when I had to see Marnie off to the airport…. But that comes later. After

It was an excellent way to spend your 2nd last day on the tour... *sniff sniff*, I cant believe that I have already been here for 51 days, I am so not ready to come home.... Oh well, back to the winery. After perusing the winery shops we were taken for a guided tasting of 7 wines. Our guide explained pretty much every basic skill to tasting wine, but the only tip that stuck with me is that you pick a wine glass up by the stems so that when you smell the wine you have not contaminated the scent with the smells you already have on your hands. All of the wines were delicious, especially the mixed grape white

Supposedly these cliffs look like two heads facing each other, I tired my best to see these heads, but only came up with two cliffs. I took some pictures hoping that they would look like heads when I saw them again, but still I only see two cliffs.... Oh well, the area around the cliffs was beautiful with some great tidal pools and crashing waves. From the heads we drove to the Kango Caves where we were to do a one hour tour of the 3 main caves. Our guide obviously didn't listen to the instructions from Cassidy and took us on the whole tour that involved

We woke early, got dressed in some of our warmest clothes, which by the way we didn't pack many of, and got on the bus for the drive to Stormsriver. We are off for a morning of Zip lining and adventure! I woke up pumped to be strapped to a metal cable suspended 30 meters above the ground and fly through the treetops, Marnie on the other hand was not so excited. Not only was there the apprehension of height, speed and the unknown but also the rain to contend with. This was the first time that we had a overcast day with continuous drizzle in the 50+ days we have been here. Once we arrived and signed our lives away, absolving the tour company of any

I am a pretty easy going person but some times I just need my personal space! Having 18 people crammed into a bus with all their luggage can really get a person feeling claustrophobic! There isn't much of a story to tell about Addo... We arrived in the early evening and ran to the store to get some beer to take the edge off of the long day in the truck. Marnie and I climbed on to the roof of Stevie to enjoy the sunset and see if we could spot any wildlife. From the roof top we did see 2 Elephants head to the watering hole for an evening drink, but
