Travel Blog | emmy http://www.travelblog.org/Bloggers/emmy/ Travel adventures in journals and photos from emmy en-us Wed, 09 Dec 2009 22:47:52 +0000 Wed, 09 Dec 2009 22:47:52 +0000 happy birthday so who was the wonderful person who sent me the euphorbia book It came in the mail today and I have no idea who to thank http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/Canada/Ontario/Kingston/blog-283881.html it's all about the sugar... Just a pic of my maple i.e. the one that I tapped last year at maple syrup season. Then my batteries froze up and went flat so there are no more picsSpring is gradually sneaking in today it's a mix of rain freezing rain and snow. It's melting the snowbanks away bit by bit and if it wasn't raining I'd probably be out looking for new spring shoots at the park. C'est la vie hopefully it http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/Canada/Ontario/Kingston/blog-261637.html blindingly white I don't dare go outside today and it's not the 18C temperature although that plays a farily large part in it. It's just that it hurts my eyes everything is white and now the sun's out and I think if I go outside I won't be able to see to get back in again So the snow hit and there was a lot but it was hardly a storm per se no lightning or thunder just lots of snow falling over a lo http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/Canada/Ontario/Kingston/blog-254397.html the chickens are coming home to roost well the geese are anyway. Apparently the Canada geese didn't see the news as the biggest storm of the season is due to hit in the next hour or so. About 3050cm yes CENTIMETRES of snow is expected to fall tonight although if it falls as freezing rain then we could be looking at 1998 all over again when most of the country was out of power for weeks. We've stocked up here on movies and http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/Canada/Ontario/Kingston/blog-253857.html I'm a krafty little kitten and a social one too yes you're reading the right blog not Tonya Todman's for the benefit of the Aussies.I have found my Knifty Knitter and am already the proud owner of two handmade alpaca beaniestoques and am taking ordersI spent my day off checking the greenhouses then visiting with a new friend downtown just to see how much or how little downtown Kingston has changed. Hola chicosHave been spending the last week and a half weedmapping in Kinglake National Park north of Melbourne. Believe you me the novelty of air travel wears off after the first 24 hours. My brain is still all over the place so don't be expecting a billion emails for a while I'm still adjusting to which side of the car to get into let alone which side of the road to drive on luckily I haven't driven yet.Ju http://www.travelblog.org/Oceania/Australia/Victoria/Warrnambool/blog-203798.html the slow decline to Halloween Hola everyoneFirst thing happy birthday to the Blackshaws hope all is well Chris and LisaWhat's new Well I didn't think a whole lot then I realised that I hadn't written since June which is very slack of me. Work is slowing down the nursery is actually closed for the season with a few plants and bagged goods outside in the cash and carry section. An old guy today was caught tryin http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/Canada/Ontario/Kingston/blog-194879.html merry summer solstice y'all hahaha and you're all over there freezing your buttocks off..... well you'll be pleased to know that at work we welcomed the first official day of summer with a massive thunderstorm and a few hail showers. I got a thorough soaking but the plants were unharmed NOTE a new Euphorbia called 'First Blush' is now in my possesion yay I got a special surprise yesterday too when one of the ladies http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/Canada/Ontario/Kingston/blog-172005.html I know I know ... getting some air I've been a total slacker with the blog for ages. At the moment I'm working 10 hour days six days a week and trying to fit in some kayaking and so forth so there are few hours in the day left that I'd like to be inside on the computer. The weather has finally warmed up a bit most days now around 1520C but the water is still ice cold as I found out tonight kayaking so swimm http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/Canada/Ontario/Kingston/blog-156874.html Spring is finally here Yes I admit it is still snowing and below zero at the moment but the flowers are coming so it's officially spring even if it officially started on March 21st. I have even participated in my very first maple tapping in order to tick one of the to Do in Canada things off my list still waiting to see a moose or beaver. http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/Canada/Ontario/Kingston/blog-145545.html my apologies home meant Kingston just in case you were wondering. Nearly done with travelling and working it's a lot less glamourous than it sounds. Ciao all Emmy http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/Canada/Alberta/Edmonton/blog-140304.html some new pics and so forth... only a few from Edmonton for starters I promise I'll put more on when I get back from the next job on Monday night. http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/Canada/Ontario/Kingston/blog-133109.html cold cold cold cold cold cold cold 28C with windchill is not a great way to start the day. Sure it looks pretty out there but then you have to scrape six inches of snow off your car so you can see out the windows to drive and to unglue the windscreen wipers that have frozen to the windshield. Once done you scramble inside the car only to wait for 10 minutes for the thing to heat up. The cold at this temperature is amazing http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/Canada/Alberta/Calgary/blog-124688.html
