And here we find ourselves. In a nutshell I am pretty frickin' lazy and I just can't be bothered to document my adventures in a manner suitable http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/Cambodia/North/Siem-Reap/blog-111876.html Trekking and Trannies in Tubular Thailand Sorry it's been a while since my last post. Been busy trekking and in transit to Laos. Right now we are in Chiang Khong spending the night until tomorrow when we leave to take the 2 day slow boat down the Mekong river to Luang Prabuang which is in Laos. While we're there we're going to go tubing. Yes the same kind as you do on the Guadalupe. It's going to rock Duh. I'm not sure what else we' http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/Thailand/Northern-Thailand/Chiang-Khong/blog-102298.html Loy Krathong all night long As fate would have it the swashbuckling trio didn't make it to Laos as they had anticipated. But then by this time they had learned to expect the unexpected.Okay that was going nowhere. We learned that it was easier to get to Laos via Chiang Mai a place we all had wanted to visit anyhow so here we are. We took 14ish hour extremely slow extremelier rickity but still really nifty train ride fr http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/Thailand/North-West-Thailand/Chiang-Mai/blog-101014.html A Brief Exploration of bangkok Friends...We are gathered here today to join together in holy awesomeness Candice and Bangkok....HahaSo I've discovered that when dealing with inebriated people of any nationality you must make certain allowances for jack assitude. I know that my friends have done so for me and now I continue that tradition.Turns out the Brits who I previously complained about are actually really cool. On http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/Thailand/Central-Thailand/Bangkok/blog-100354.html I made it.... Just wanted to let everyone know that I made it safely.I have to admit I'm extremely overwhelmed. I'm not even quite sure what the date is here. And I've barely slept in the past 2 days. Fun stuff....My brain is still constantly repeating what the fuck am I doingI think the lonliness is starting to kick in. Not that there aren't plenty of people around to talk with. I think I've been doing qui http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/Thailand/Central-Thailand/Bangkok/blog-100183.html Said in a disconcerting whisper "Seven Days" Exactly one week until my departure for South East Asia...I have alot of preparations to make mostly mental.I haven't been allowing myself to think too much about my upcoming trip so as to not live it out in my head before hand but also and mostly so as to not send myself into a fit of panic and a spiral of what the frick am I doing thoughts. But I suppose now is that time.Time for confirmi http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Texas/Austin/blog-97856.html Southeast Asia Here I Come It is official. I bought my ticket this morning.I will be travelling throughout Southeast Asia for 3 months from November 1st through February 1st. I will be travelling by myself.I feel good http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Texas/Austin/blog-73887.html A Short Trip to Isla de Sur Padre So I was going a little crazy you know a classic case of the travel bug. I searched around for 2 days but I couldn't find anything that would work with James' study schedule or if it did nothing I could afford. So after considerable pouting I decided that we would go to South Padre Island. So now we're here. Some times we go to the beach sometimes we go to the hot tub sometimes I read som http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Texas/Rio-Grande-Valley/South-Padre-Island/blog-68614.html Costa Rica James and I are making tentative plans for a month in Costa Rica in August. You know how our plans are though always changing. But I'm going somewhere goddammitAny way I'll keep the updates posted. Why have a travel blog if you can't bore everyone with not only every detail of your trip but also every detail of planning from the moment of conception. You lucky subscribers http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Texas/Austin/blog-67158.html Houston Zoo Yesterday I went to the Houston Zoo with James' mom Iva Ivanna Celestina and Leandrew.I mostly hung around with Ivanna who is 13 but we get along really well. Maybe it's because I'm so immature. We saw tigers doing laps to whom Ivanna Vanaynay for short offered her arm for eating in exchange for petting privleges. Vanaynay also made distinctly accurate animal calls at each of the habitats. http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Texas/Houston/blog-19483.html Titillation Tofu I wouldn't actually call this adventuring but I hate to completely abandon a blog into which I've put so many hours.James and I are in Houston right now visiting his family then mine.I guess it could be an adventure but I don't suppose I care too much.I've been into the cooking thing lately. So I've been cooking alot. I won't bore you with accounts of of my hours spent in the kitchen. Though I http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Texas/Houston/blog-18833.html Six Days Six days left until we leave Puerto. Actually less than six. We leave on the 20th and we're headed home. Two or three days straight of bus riding. This has turned out to be a much shorter trip than the 34 months we had originally planned. We were decieved into believing that Mexico is alot cheaper than it is by both our romanticizing friends and our guidebook. Oh well...that's life. We've had a http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/Mexico/Oaxaca/Puerto-Escondido/blog-13743.html Saturday Night Poi Last night Saturday night I had the treat of seeing some street performers dancing with Poi. This is actually the third time Ive seen them but because the amount of people here is steadily increasing as there is a slight bump in tourism in July last night was the best. There were about 5 people who danced with the poi about 3 who used this baton like stick and about 3 more who used devil s http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/Mexico/Oaxaca/Puerto-Escondido/blog-13196.html Funny. Ive spent over a month now in Mexico eating the ice brushing my teeth with the tap water not washing or peeling the fruits and veggies before I eat them and nothing happens. Now some how Ive ended up with a friggin cold in the tropics. Life you have a interesting sense of humor.Thats basically all I have to say. Im sure you were all so excited when you checked your email eagerly clicki http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/Mexico/Oaxaca/Puerto-Escondido/blog-12907.html And the Gods of Adventure Smiled Down... What a day yesterday was.We left for San pedro Mixtepec in our collectivo taxi knowing only that we needed to go there to get to the waterfall and a general idea of where the waterfall was in relation to San Pedro. When we arrived there we could only discern from the rapid Spanish directions we recieved from several people that we needed to wait in front of the Secondary School to get a ride to http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/Mexico/Oaxaca/Puerto-Escondido/blog-12466.html Inspiration and Adventure Hola Amigos y FamiliaIm happy to say that today Im in much higher spirits. I think it was a combination of PMS and a hangover that allowed me to be hit really hard by the aforementioned drama. While I still hold to everything I said Im feeling alot more positive about this all and Im determined to find adventure in this place. Tomorrow were heading up to San Pedro Mixtepec where theyre http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/Mexico/Oaxaca/Puerto-Escondido/blog-12339.html Sol Escondido Escondido in Spanish means hidden and thats exactly what the sun has been. Its no wonder weve been getting all the cheap off season prices. Now Im going to say this at the risk of sounding a little spoiled but to be perfectly honest this staying in Puerto Escondido for a month is not exactly working out for me.Its not that I miss the comforts of home the cleaner tap water the food t http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/Mexico/Oaxaca/Puerto-Escondido/blog-12173.html Photos Phinally Ive put some photos up finally for you all to enjoy.I think that I will be trying to add photos into my entries as I go along from now on. I dont really have alot of photos of Puerto Escondido yet so that will come later. So I made my first attempt at surfing yesterday and failed miserably. The seasickness I get doesnt do alot for my morale. The waves werent very big but it seemed like all http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/Mexico/Oaxaca/Puerto-Escondido/blog-11831.html Map and Peyote and Things Here is a link to a map of Mexico that shows where Puerto Escondido is... httpwww.mexico.usmap.htmActually I dont know if that will show up as a link but if its not youll know what to do Im sure.Loook at the second map down at pretty much the bottom of Mexico and there we are.A couple of things about Mexico...1.Toilet seats are a rare treat.2. Hotels beds usually only come with a sheet http://www.travelblog.org/blog-11504.html Puerto Escondido We are finally here...Puerto Escondido the place we will be staying for about a month. It is literally paradise here. I have eaten several mangos today that I found fallen off of their trees. There are limes growing all over almond trees everywhere even some avocado trees. The beaches are long there are huge promontories of dark rock dividing the beaches waves beating up against them.
