Well, Im offski! Spent my last night with friends from home! Cheers Mickey and Rachal for the food, beer and craic, nice to get some hospitality after 6 odd weeks of communal living with smelly strangers. Since it still pissing in Taupo, I´ve cancelled my attempted hike there and gone straight through to Rotorua! This place is known for it hot springs and all things volcanic! What they dont mention is it absolutely stinks! This may be a natural occurance due to the amount of sulphur wafting about the place, but christ can you at least mention it somewhere! Ok, crossed from South to North Island! A little depressing leaving the South Island and its Middle Earth type scenery .... i am a bit of a Lord of the Rings freak, so at times was expecting the odd hobbit etc to pop out. There is a serious change in scenery, between the 2 islands. The north island has a more rolling hills type feel to it, whereas the south has the towering jagged type mountains and valleys etc! after shooting up the coast and a night in Christchurch, have ended up in a wee place called Kaikoura. The plan is to stay 2 nights here, and get some kip! Then off to Wellington and the north Island for the All Blacks vs France game on Saturday night! This place can get good waves at times, but as usual not when I´m around! jesus christ, this travel blog stuff takes a lot of time! Gonna cut out the rants, its costing me a fortune and I think I´m talking complete bollocks. So after Queenstown, and a few days of partying it was back on the magical magic bus to be magiced up the east coast. First stop Dunedin, then lake Tekapo, then back to christchurch. Quick thoughts: Dunedin, is a student town and can be a blast. After 4 nights in Queenstown, i couldnt even face the brewery tour of Speights! Thats a sign. Well, i´m doing it again! Got talked into doing this bloody jump once more! Must say I am alot more composed this time, might be still pissed from last nights booze up though as its 9am in the morning. ok, im here. This place is super! Lake, alphine style town, surrounded by mountains more ways to kill yourself than a day trip in Bagdad! A must do for anyone coming to new zealand, with 200+ pubs and restaurants, makes a novel change to pies, sausage rolls and burger joints! The stable diet of the kiwis. Of course, may i also mention the Fergburger. I stayed here 4 nights and had one every night on the way back from the pub!
