Spain - From: The Park or the Park Hotel
I'm sorry to hear your terrible time in Spain. I saw a different Spain when I was there for 2 wks in 1986. We visited one other village; otherwise we didn't move from Costa del Sol. You get to know the 'neighbourhood' and things start to click and how to work with the system (siestas, gutter in the streets, bothersome gypsies). However, there are so many great things about Spain that I hope someday you will experience. I think the rest of your trip will be great!!! Have fun in Ireland!!

Elke! Reading your blogs of Italy reminds me of my trip in March with Matt.... isn't Venice just breathtaking? I know exactly how you feel that it's as though time has stopped there and it looks as it did 100s of years ago. Your memories of Rome and the Vatican are similar to mine - we'll have to share photos when you get back (although yours are probably so much cooler than mine)! I hope you are looking forward to the next stage of your trip - and I can't wait to see you when you get back! Just over one month!

Merry (early) Christmas! - From: and so we stand still
I'm so excited to read your blogs! I know that I just "talked" to you recently via e-mail, but it's still exciting. Where you are looks BEAUTIFUL. I'm so happy that things at work have settled in, and that you and Conor are making a home away from home for yourselves. Okay, here's the exciting part..... I sent something for you in the mail. I probably shouldn't tell you, but I don't want to keep that a secret! But you probably expected it since I asked you for your address. It's a b'day gift/Christmas present, but it probably won't arrive until the new year. I hope it gets to you sooner rather than later. Either way, enjoy your "green" Christmas, and I'll be sure to stomp out some snow piles on your behalf. Love you and miss you!!!!

Wow, What an awesome time you are having! Sydney sounds great! I can't wait to see your pics. It is so neat to hear and see all this through your eyes, Elke. You express your experiences and impressions so well, and then when you sent all your pics from the first 2 weeks, it was like being there with the two of you. Especially the skydiving video!! Conor needs to do it again but get a video this time of HIS face falling through the sky. How about it Conor? Now you can add surfing to your list of so many wonderful new activities (that word sounds boring compared to the awesome experience that must be). Have a great relaxing, zen-like week in Byron Bay!!!

I wish I could see the things that you are experiencing! Glasgow was great - - we even went to Edinburgh on Saturday. What a beautiful city, it's like you step back in time to the medieval era. We went to the big castle there and walked the Royal Mile. One of the best parts of the day was climbing Calton Hill and seeing the entire city from way up just as the sun was setting. Unfortunately it was kind of cloudy, but I did get some cool pictures. We're probably going to go to Amsterdam on Monday, should be a lot of fun. Thinking of you elke day. love Mal :)

what experiences! - From: Kill a possum, save a tree
such wonderful experiences!! mixed with the heart-breaking feelings of ending the life of an innocent animal on the road...conor is right but i know how you feel sweetheart, sensativity of nature and all that God created is a testament of your character, the depth of who you are..our lives as humans means we are sometimes adversely affecting what we truly love and adore but thankfully most of us do far more good things..think of good things and precious things when we sometimes hurt that which we adore by accident...the fact that you feel terrible for doing it speaks volumes of your character

Scuba Diving! - From: Bula! from Fiji
I'm so glad to hear you two went Scuba Diving! Isn't it a Zen-like experience? Awesome. I really hope I can too some day in the future. You two certainly packed in a pile of things in just a few days. Skydiving! Your father's stomach just dropped. Nadi sounds like a few 'tourist-y' towns I know. You do have to be strong and just smile. Have fun, guys. So glad to hear from you!!
