Love your travel log! I frequented Chongqing about 25 years ago. Many of my classmates are living in that great city. Your travel log sent me back to my youth and the place where I met my first girl friend and lost her thereafter. Wish you great time in China!

edible indeed - From: Three days in Heaven
it's a very rare "nidd-fish" and one like no other. If you're ever lucky enough to see it you should give it a big hug and realize that you have just been in contact with something extraordinary

Spain - From: The Park or the Park Hotel
I'm sorry to hear your terrible time in Spain. I saw a different Spain when I was there for 2 wks in 1986. We visited one other village; otherwise we didn't move from Costa del Sol. You get to know the 'neighbourhood' and things start to click and how to work with the system (siestas, gutter in the streets, bothersome gypsies). However, there are so many great things about Spain that I hope someday you will experience. I think the rest of your trip will be great!!! Have fun in Ireland!!

Elke! Reading your blogs of Italy reminds me of my trip in March with Matt.... isn't Venice just breathtaking? I know exactly how you feel that it's as though time has stopped there and it looks as it did 100s of years ago. Your memories of Rome and the Vatican are similar to mine - we'll have to share photos when you get back (although yours are probably so much cooler than mine)! I hope you are looking forward to the next stage of your trip - and I can't wait to see you when you get back! Just over one month!

It's a galah! They are very noisy and usually stay in big flocks. Sometimes you will see a sulphur-crested cockatoo amongst them as well, those big white parrots with yellow crowns. They are so beautiful! Smell a frangipani for me, I miss you Elke!

Merry (early) Christmas! - From: and so we stand still
I'm so excited to read your blogs! I know that I just "talked" to you recently via e-mail, but it's still exciting. Where you are looks BEAUTIFUL. I'm so happy that things at work have settled in, and that you and Conor are making a home away from home for yourselves. Okay, here's the exciting part..... I sent something for you in the mail. I probably shouldn't tell you, but I don't want to keep that a secret! But you probably expected it since I asked you for your address. It's a b'day gift/Christmas present, but it probably won't arrive until the new year. I hope it gets to you sooner rather than later. Either way, enjoy your "green" Christmas, and I'll be sure to stomp out some snow piles on your behalf. Love you and miss you!!!!
