My 4th day was spent on Sentosa Island where I visited the Faces of Singapore museum, underwater world and the pink dolphin show. We were meant to get back to the mainland by rickety sky cart things but I saw how high they were and freaked out!! So I spent the day just walking around Sentosa - I even finally found Cafe del Mar, after walking the entire length of the island. It was a tiring but very fun day :)... read more

Today I went to the Singapore Zoo. You've seen one zoo, you've seen em all, right? Wrong! This was a beautiful zoo set in a lush rainforest, specialising in mostly Asian animals. I took so many photos, but have decided only to upload a handful as there is a good hundred or so!! I met a lovely couple, Nick & Sharon from Essex, England and we tagged along together - the 2 poms and the aussie being crass and loud and paying out the yankees!! Today was one of those days where I think I got out of the wrong side of the bed!!! After breakfast today (no change since yesterday!!), I rang up the bus people to confirm my tour and find out where the closest pickup point for the bus was. They said the bus stop opposite the Tekka Mall. All good. I went down to Reception, where there is a tourism desk. I asked again where the closest stop was, he said "the bus stop outside Tekka Mall". Oh. Well 2 stories. So I go for a walk, and I wait at the bus stop. And wait (I was half an hour early to start with!)... No bus... So I look to my right, and there's a big Hippo bus driving past at light speed. So I walk ... read more

The night tour was lots of fun. There was 23 people, mostly Aussies, some British and a Russian couple. I got picked up from my hotel at around 5:45 this afternoon, taken to The Singapore Flyer where I waited around. We were taken by bus to the Boat Quay on the riverfront. We were taken to a hot rock restaurant where we cooked our own meals!! and had a good chat while we watched the sky turn from blue to black. A beautiful sunset, although I missed it cause I was chatting. From there, we were taken to the Bugis Night Village where some hard-earned money was parted with, then on the bus again to the Raffles Hotel for the famous Singapore Sling. I did a lot of window shopping, on 2 accounts. 1, I was just sussing the area out for another day - which worked!! And 2, I couldn't afford half the stores, they were fair expensive. Still, it was fun to walk around and pretend I was rich. I was looked down upon in the Tiffany & Co store cause I couldn't afford to buy the necklace I've had my eye on - but that's ok, they're cheaper here! These are the pics from Takasheya Mall. Day 1... So stinking hot, but I'd rather this heat than Adelaide's super cold!! I got up had a shower in the whole bathroom (haha!!), got dressed, had a bad American brekkie... Then had a blood nose! Yay! Then off to Orchard Road to walk around. Pictures are good :)... read more
