The Imam is having some technical difficulties for the 7:30 pm Call to Prayer. I'm sitting on my roof terrace watching the main square in this authentic Moroccan town. A long day --- last night I downloaded pictures, chatted with Al, and had snails in the central square of Marrakech. Woke up at 7:30 am, for breakfast soup (no spoon given this time) then off to the bus. Met what I thought was a couple from Switzerland named Jean-Claude and Noemi. Started the day at 7:30 am with Scottish John. Went for breakfast soup “B____”, then checked out a palace. Went to visit John’s friend Abdullah. They recounted tales of yesteryear when they were both booze-hounds. Apparently John did a lot of opium and heroine in the past. Abdullah invited us both to dinner at 3 pm. Spent the rest of the afternoon in Souks, bought nothing. John is an avid bird watcher. Dinner - Awesomely authentic!!! No sleep last night, only during the flight. Arrived in the mid-morning after a good flight (must endeavour to meet Ryan Air stewardesses in London!). Met a Scotsman named John. He knows Morocco. I Found a decent hotel for cheap (Hotel Imouzzer). Breakfasted on the main square and then slept until 3:30pm. I must go buy flip-flops and have my first shower in four days!!! After 3 days staying at my old relatives' (Peggy and Dennis) house in Kent, I finally head to Luton Airport to catch a 6 am flight to Marrakech the next morning... 4pm - On a train from Tumbridge Wells to London. Two days with Peg and Denis discussing “The Old War” (WWI) and “This War” (WWII). Old Agatha Christie mysteries, Eurovision! Slept on the couch, no showers!
