Your translation is right. "Museo del Jamon" is the name of those delis which speciallity is ham, cured ham. Cured ham (or 'Jamon Serrano') is probably the most appreciated food by spaniards. As a mediterranean country, our gastronomy is widely based on pork, or lamb but not beef. That's somehow shocking for many brits, americans or australians I've met. Most spaniards abroad I know, when asked "Is there anything you miss of Spain?", they always answer: "el jamon"

Oh, the entertainment has started again and I am having backflashes of my morning coffee while reading your blog. Lesley is of course getting the hilarious bits read out to her while she is trying to work! Cant get over how cute pumpkin looks in Madrid! Goodness! That child is not allowed more stamps on her passport than me. I have some serious planning to do. Love that you guys are not roughing it this trip, even if it is only cause of Sahara. What a lovely way to turn 30 Kit! Love ya's and miss you lots. The Corolla is being very loved! :-) Em

The Real Thing.. - From: Tunisia - the beautiful Sahara
Hi there, I saw this ad in Tunisia and found it again on the internet recently.. Coca cola, otherwise known as 'The Real Thing' ! Look at the bottle, what does it spell? :) JESUS Its one of those strange things in life that point to God:) Another, is the word "history" , or HisStory, as it were. I wondered what the origin of the word was, and perhaps was made deliberately with God in mind, but according to Wikipedia the word has a greek origin, so it must be by chance, what do you think? God Bless Markie:)

movie - From: Thoughts on Africa
I am living in Kigali now. Hotel Rwanda is the most holi-wood-ized movie about the genocide and is a sore point here since the manager of the hotel has made millions off of his exaggerated story where he makes himself out to be a hero in order to get rich. I recommend shooting dogs or shake hands with the devil for a more honest account of this beautiful country's tragedy.

HELLO!!! - From: Athens... our only european experience!
Hi,I'm a 15-year-old girl who lives in Athens and I'd like to tell you a few things about your story[It won't take long] I've read your story carefully and I'm saying that I'm really surprised!First of all,it's not good friday but Great Friday. You arrived in Athens at Easter's Sunday. What were you waiting for, that it would be an ordinary day and all the shops would be open?Everybody were celebrating and having fun, nobody would like[or care] to open the shops. Secondly,''greek people'',as you called us,didn't learn english on the olympics.I don't agree at all!And I'll tell you why:I've been learning english for 6 years[I was 8 years old when I started, that happened BEFORE the olympics].As far as I'm conserned, people in my age are able to give exams and take The First Certificate In English[LOWER].You couldn't say that those people who started english when I did don't know english. If you study greek history, you'll find that there are lot's of interesting sights, not only''The Acropolis''in Athens, but also all around Greece. Finally,I think that your story is good, although you came here at Easter[a really stupid think to do,in my opinion!]You should visit a Greek island in summer and you'll see who different it is.I hope you are having a good time, wherever you are. Lot's of kisses[Although I don't know you!] Maria

no problems, nothing fancy though - From: Mumbai Mayhem
hey Holly, Certainly no complaints. It was clean, small, and perfectly reasonable. The bathroom left a bit to be desired for - it was clean and all, just a tad old. Room was fine, and TV, aircon worked fine. If I was going again, I would look for somewhere else. However there's nothing wrong with it. good luck! email and let us know how you go.

How come via Chicago O'Hare? - From: 32 hours to Boston and still going...
LAX to Boston is bad enough - but via Chicago? Hey, make sure you take a ride on the T for me. If I remember correctly the green line is the fun one where you walk on the tracks and it can take you all the way into some beautiful leafy suburbs. Actually, if you do want to look into something for me... The local department store used to be called Filenes (now rebranded Macys) and it had this thing calle the "Filenes Automatic Discount Basement" where anything on the shelf more than a few months went to the first basement level (5% off) then the next (10% off) and so on until eventually it hit the bottom and was given to charity. I'd love to know if they still do that even though it's branded Macys. You can have a burger at Wendys across the road after you've checked it out :)

may i just remind you, americans take their jobs very seriously! they ARE told not to smile, so you provoking them with small talk only makes them more serious. best to walk through in an orderly fashion, dont make undue facial movements, and keep your hands where they can see them. and i would love to see photos... please??? looking forward to hearing more (the Thambiratnam blogs are highlights to my un-travelled week!!!) lots o love

- From: Thoughts on Africa
Just browsing the travel blog site, peoples blogs on travel are pretty informative on other countries and their cultures. Then I notice the really daft comment by "Brother Uche......". Why can't we all live in peace, REGARDLESS of our religous background. The reason why so many wars are fought and so many people are killed are because of intolerant people like Brother Uche. I'm not saying Christianity is a perfect religion because lots of bad things have happened during the era of Christianity, but intolerant Muslims are no better than any other intolerant person of another religion.

a couple other things... - From: Mexico City - a tale of tacos and pyramids
yeap, agree with marco, and also, not the whole city is sinking, and they are way on their way to stop that from happening. Never believe anything americans say about mexico, the whole hard shell taco culture is actually called tex-mex food, and it was born, you guessed it, in texas. Another thing is that we don't regularly use ground beef to make tacos. Last thing is that the city of teotihuacan, was actually built not exactly by the toltecs. The aztecs came to place themselves over there and renamed themselves mexicas, and they did scuffle a lot with the toltecs until they finally overpowered them and got a whole "empire" thing going... Nice to see you got a kick out of mexico, its cool when people go back with better ideas than only "its polluted!, its dangerous" and that sorta stuff...

you righthly said that we should watch hotel rwanda but what you failed to mention was that the reason for the genocide in rwanda and in every dark skinned country is you and your forefathers.mr farrahkhan taught us that as long as we follow christianity and dont kill europeans on sight we will always live under the chastisement of allah.and by the way your 6000 year rule over 'us' is almost up. think about.

Hi there, well I only wanted to say that México is not in South America, actually it is in North America with USA and Canada. ( your comment was..."OK, when you're in South America, you see lots and lots of churches".) Second thing, that church which name you have forgotten is the Mexico's Cathedral, is the biggest cathedral in all America, and also the most important church in this country, so now you know it. While reading about my favorite country (Thailand) I began reading about India and caught your blog. I was very well written and I could find no spelling errors - how strange is that anyway? But I enjoyed reading about your adventures and was envious that you traveled for 3 1/2 months. Anyway, I saw that you missed going to Thailand and I heartily recommend you get there on your next trip - unless you have already been there. It was truly amazing. I also have visited some of the places you went to and the pix were great fun to look at. Take it from a blog reader - yours was the bomb!

Taxis and Delhi - From: Dynamic Delhi
I am surprised you did not go to the Jama Masjid, Jantar Mantar and India Gate. Delhi is probably the most historical city in India. On Taxis, even locals get cheated - in ANY city. In my experience, pre-paid is the way to go.

Taxi tip - From: Dynamic Delhi
The only way to take a taxi in India is this - take the first one you see. Don't haggle. Don't ask the price. Just follow him to his taxi. When in the taxi, tell him your destination. When you arrive, let him and the doorman empty your bags. Then ask the doorman how much you should pay the taxi from 'such-and-such' a place. Adding a good tip for the doorman, give HIM the money, saying, 'Can you pay the taxi for me?' By then you and your bags are in the hotel... The taxi is paid. No one is cheated. And you have a lifelong friend in the doorman.
