So next stop was the Torres Del Paine Nacional Park, something which we had been looking forward to and dreading at the same time as it looked like it was going to be a lot of hard work. We caught an early bus from El Calafate to Puerto Natales, and went in search of the Erratic Rock Hostel. This hostel had been recommended numerous times on the Internet, and was definitely worth staying at. It is run by a couple of really genuine American guys who know their stuff, and although being slightly on the expensive side (6000 pesos a night), [View Full Entry]

The next stage of our trip was to the south of Argentina and Chile, to a vast region known ominously as Patagonia. I had been in Patagonia previously, when I was in Bariloche and Puerto Madryn, yet they did not prepare me for the sheer vastness and extremeness (I think I just made a new word) of this area the further south you go. We flew from Buenos Aires to El Calafate in Argentina, which was the first step in our mission to get to the Torres Del Paine National Park in Chile. The flight there was interesting to say the [View Full Entry]

From Bariloche i followed the poor Danish girls that i had tagged on to to Puerto Madryn, a 15 hour bus ride which was dodgy to say the least. I had grown used to the luxury and comfort that Andesmar buses provides, but this other company, who dished up a ham and cheese sandwich for dinner, were not the greatest. Anyway, we rolled into Puerto Madryn at around 7am, and instantly went about booking what we had come here for, a trip to Peninsula Valdez where we were to go on a whale tour, check out the penguins and hopefully see [View Full Entry]

I arrived in Buenos Aires on 29/11, with Josh arriving the following day. We stayed in a great hostel called Milhouse, which was a really fun time. Met a lot of great people, and had loads of fun partying. BA is a really full on city, with so much going on at any one time, and lots of clubs and pubs, all that start pumping after 3am. I had one great night out with Josh and some friends at a club called Opera Bay, where we watched the some rise at around 7am through the glass walls of the club. I [View Full Entry]

I had heard a lot about how beautiful Bariloche was, what with the snow capped mountains and the crystal clear lakes, and I wasn´t disappointed. This place is incredible. The views from all throughout town have you looking out over the mountains and the lake. It feels like you are in the Swiss Alps, or at least how I imagine the Swiss alps to look, and with the heavy emphasis here on chocolate, ice-cream and designer clothing, I don´t think it is far off the truth. There is a heavy emphasis here on going trekking into the mountains for a night, [View Full Entry]

Well from Chile to Argentina was the plan and so i have headed over the Andes to the Argentinian city of Mendoza. This involved an 9 hour bus which i decided to take during the night. I have been informed afterwards that it is probably best done in the day as the views whilst crossing the mountains are just spectacular. My trip was also slightly ruined by a bunch of 15 old woman telling jokes to each other from around 8pm til 3am, and the border crossing which took 90 mins standing out in the freezing cold (-5C) with nothing more [View Full Entry]

Ola, What have i been up to the last couple of days you ask! Well even if you don’t I will tell you anyway coz I know my Mum is out there and she loves me and listening to my stories. Santiago was a real blast. My last night there was spent with a couple of English lads from my hostel who, having arrived that day, decided that it was about time to sample the local wheat, hops and barley. Also, Chile were playing Paraguay in a friendly game of soccer so we hoped to take in some cultural experiences as [View Full Entry]

Well - i made it. If it wasnt for the battler next to me who decided to snore and drool for the entire trip, the flight would have been bearable. Instead, the 17 or so hours felt like 40 or so as i didnt manage to get a second of shut eye. I thought my luck had turned when the dude next to me swapped with his mate, but his mates subsequent nose bleed and general movement made it worse, even when i thought it wasnt possible! Anyway, i got here eventually and managed to find my hostel all on my [View Full Entry]

Well, i can safely say that i wasn't expecting Saturday night to get as loose as it did. What a night! And thanks to the staff at the Burdekin who decided it was a good idea to stay open later than the quoted hour of 3am....as those who were still there at 6am will vouch. Unlucky to those poor suckers who couldnt or didnt make it, and thanks to all those that did come along. It will long live in my memory as a top night with friends, and the photographic evidence that is floating around will back that up - [View Full Entry]
