Today is the second day in Greensboro. On Monday I got here around noon and checked in. However, we had all gone out in DC to go bowling and Marek kept buying me delicious Blue Moon pints. Took us an hour to walk home after the ally closed at midnight. Apparently DC blocks take forever to walk. Plus there was a ridiculous moment every other block, like begging Dominos guys to reopen for pizza, riding the basic frame of a bike, or pushing me into a flowerbed. I passed out pretty fast on the fouton once we got back, that is [View Full Entry]

So the update is that I am in DC right now, and have been since Friday. It's been a study abroad reunion for three days involving a really large amount of alcohol. Also a can of pickled herring that made the house smell like vomit. Extra smak. Hopefully tonight we are going to see some of the monuments and other sights of the capital. That's something I would really to do before I leave in the morning. I have a 5 hour or so drive to Greensboro in the morning where I will get to move into my new apartment tomorrow [View Full Entry]

So, what have I done? Since being home, I've been working at this house for Steve and Melissa from my mom's office (the expeditionary studies department of SUNY Plattsburgh). One of the students from the department has been working with them and helped me get this work so I wouldn't be stuffed in the back office of some company doing the most senseless work possible. I've learned how to run electrical outlets and installed lights and switches. I've done work all over the house from sanding and cleaning, to learning how to drive a tractor. I enjoy my job, and even [View Full Entry]

Belarus Buddy Bear
Belarus Buddy Bear
UN countries each have a bear and they travel all over the world together.
So this is a little bit out of order and sort of over-due, but I wanted to write about my time with my family in Warszawa. So many fun things happened that I bet I don't even remember them all. Everything is in my journal that I turned into school so if I have to edit this I will. Most days I just hung out at the house and rested after two such crazy weeks of traveling in Belarus. The first Friday I was there I went with most of the family to Dominika's to watch the first Poland soccer match. [View Full Entry]

So I've been home for a few weeks...still more pictures to post. I haven't heard back about my grade from the Belarus class yet, which is a pain. Been working a bit of construction type stuff for a woman my mom works with. Spending some time with the other kids I'm working with- actually went out with them the other night to a bar in the Burgh. Wierd for me. Really wierd. Family was up for graduation party on Cumberland Head. Wind and rain all weekend. Babcia bought a house about 3 miles from mine that weekend, too. She should be [View Full Entry]

Reflection Paper Europe » Poland » Masovia » Warsaw
I figured I might as well post this. It's a bit more in depth because it is my final paper for this course (and for college). It's pretty long- but there are memories and stories laced through the whole thing. Mostly, I'm posting it for me later on when I want to look back. ********* For two weeks I traveled almost daily on a bus or an airplane. Over this time, I also traveled from moment to moment in my growth, understanding, and curiosity. Two weeks felt like an eternity sometimes, and also as though there was no possibility for me [View Full Entry]

Minsk Airport
Minsk Airport
Our view driving away from a somewhat dark and dingy airport.
I'm listing this as Belarus since I'll have plenty of time to list for Poland again since today is my first day of that two week vacation. Our trip was fantastic. It started out in Krakow with some typical large group drama. We had about a million walking tours and went to Aushwitz as well. After 3 days there we flew back to Warszawa to take another flight to Minsk. Both the Minsk airport and Krakow airport are tiny. Warszawa airport, on the other hand, has undergone serious renovations and the security there now rivals that of the US. What insanity [View Full Entry]

The Airport Again.

The View.

So graduation is the next step in this summer's travels. I know I didn't have to go anywhere for it, but still it changes who I am. I'm sick, for the 3 days between graduation and my trip to Europe. I'm really excited for this trip even though half of it is for a class. My family is excited to see me and that makes me happy. Alright, a few pictures and then I have to keep packing.
