Saying hello Hey there,
I just stumbeled across your blog browsing the web.
I myself came back from Gambia just three weeks ago. My stay was in a small health centre in Darsilami (sponsored by a group of Germans). I stayed there for two months and had the most amazing time in awhile. Oh, I am currently training to be a nurse (last year).
Just wanted to say hi and was wondering if you would like to exchange some experiences? I am planing to go back to Gambia in February (2 weeks) for "vacations" and maybe return in one year for another few months :) Can you tell, I fell in love with the country and its people? :) Anyway whenever you like, just drop a note
Chrissy (from Germany)
I'm sitting here on Saturday on the computer so there is definitely some electric left in the Gambia, not sure where that rumour came from but I don't think it's true.
Got it sorted, silly me I know! Home in a week can't wait, I love the sunshine but still looking forward to coming home. There is a postcard on it's way to you, hope you get it soon! Speak when I'm back! x
Sounds like you're having such a nice time Katy, just got your postcard today was so nice to hear from you! Keep enjoying the sunshine, the weather here is horrible I'm very jealous! Love you lots xx
Hello We were in Gambia in 2008 on a holiday. We were turists but still got the picture that Gambia was very poor country and I think nothing has changed. I have a blog about our family life and what we do on our holidays and freetime. I am now writing about our holiday in Gambia. There are coming more stories about the holiday. It would be nice if you put some comments there. Have a nice week!

Its lovely there is a nice social aspect to it all as well. I looved the balloon story. I can just imagine their little faces. I am going to reply to your email and send you a picture of my new grandchild, which I looooove so much.Enjoy your time my darling, and keep safe.xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Hi Katie! What an interesting time you are having and the weekend sounded really great. The way you speak about the local places , the dialects and the different foods just shows you have really immersed yourself in the the whole placement and the peopl Things here are now very ,very quiet and it is taking a bit of getting used to. However, both Tom and Lindsay are sounding very positive about their respective new places and like you are making new friends. The cats survived their stay at the new cattery but seem very happy to be back at Le Grenier. Both Dad and I are still quite busy at work but maybe this weekend will be a little quieter and I shall get a few jobs done-still haven't entered Tom's room!! Sue Smith's results came through and she got a First- very clever lady! so we may need to go out and celebrate and then on Sunday I must remember to do my creche duty unlike the other week when I completely forgot! Speak tomorrow and hope this finds you well and happy, love you loads,Mum X
Miss you katy!!! loving your blog katy! It sounds such a daunting experience but i'm amazed by some of the cases you've seen. Keep on having fun, lots of love Rosie xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
yellow fever hi im going to bakau next march for 3 weeks with my three kids all under 8 years old ive been told that i dont need to have the yellow fever injection to enter gambia but would you advise i should get it
Hi,
I'm here for 7 weeks and have had the yellow fever injection. It's a pre-requisite if you are travelling via Senegal but you don't need to have it here. I'm not really sure of the stats on yellow fever in the Gambia or what's best to advise for children I would reccomend talking to your GP if you can and getting advice from them. Sorry I can't be of more help.
The Parents Really good to hear about your day to day excitement. So pleased the accommodation is a success despite the little hiccup. Welcome to Africa Katie! Take lots of photos and/or videos if you can. Enjoy!
Dad xxxx
