The overnight boat from Koh Tao to the mainland (Surat Thani) was funny. The whole upper floor was a giant mattress and we all slept like sardines in a can. The trip to Koh Phi Phi went from 9pm to 12pm the next day. Phi Phi was ridiculously hot and relatively much more expensive. Only stayed for 2 nights. On the second day, my friend found a buffet breakfast for $4 cdn which was ending at 10am and it was already 9:45am. So I followed suit and grabbed loads of food and continued to eat until noon. Essentially, it was breakfast [View Full Entry]

I did my diving in Koh Tao. Originally, I was going to Ko Samui but the train was booked going there for a couple nights so I opted for Koh Tao which was recommended to me a couple of times during my first few days in Bangkok. I'm glad I went to Koh Tao. Not very developed and the entire community alone is practically there for diving only. My instructor, Tim, was from Toronto. Fancy that! Easy on the eyes too. He came to the island a few years ago for a two week vacation for diving and never left. Probably [View Full Entry]

The Crocodile Farm in Samut Prakan is crazy!! Mainly because of the hundreds and hundreds of crocs they have there! I took the city bus which means it took me over 2 hours to get there but for less a $1 cdn. It's apparently only 15 km out of Bangkok though! Anyways, I got a wicked photo of myself bottle feeding a baby tiger and then lots and lots of photos of the crocodile show where the Thai actually put his head inside the crocodile's mouth! Too nuts. After the Crocodile Farm, I headed towards the train station to look into [View Full Entry]

I went to Ayuthaya for the day and saw old temple after old temple after old temple. Then, took a ride on an elephant! I'm writing briefly because it's actually May 16th now and I'm trying to recollect the things I've done. [View Full Entry]

I'm off to Thailand today! I'm catching the 1pm bus and the 7:30pm flight. I wish, oh how I wish, I could be upgraded...Staying at a HI hostel for the first night and then I don't know. Haven't booked the other nights. EEeek! It's very unlike me. I'm normally a huge planner. Wish me luck! [View Full Entry]

Had some hot pot with the family yesterday. Lots of them were there and my sister had to tell me who was who since I don't remember from 12 years ago. So much food. So good. They had the chicken nuggets that taste like McD's chicken nuggets. Perhaps they are the ones that didn't make the McD 'cut'. Urgh...let's not think about that and just enjoy ignorantly. Afterwards, my aunt took my sister and I to another market and bought some stuff for us including guava. I love guava. Crap thing is that my first guava turned out to be rotten! [View Full Entry]

The Go Karts here are so much fun. Well, I have no previous experience to draw from but nonetheless, they are wicked. I started off pretty slow--getting used to the idea that I wasn't going to flip over. Then as I got comfortable, I went a bit faster. I dont' know how fast they went but the others said it was faster than regular ones they were used to. I still ended up last and with dirt all over the exposed parts of skin. I guess I did eat their dust. In the evening, we went to see Perfect Stranger at [View Full Entry]

Woke up this morning at 7:41am again. I woke up at the exact same time yesterday too. Kind of weird. The sun is already so bright so I always think it's noon but it's far from it. Helped my sister clean her apartment. Sidenote: Her cat likes to eat plastic and then it has to be locked up because shortly after, he throws up. Why he likes to eat plastic? I have no idea. After helping Alice with a couple of short errands, we went to the bike shop where I ordered a new mountain bike. I'm just going to mail [View Full Entry]

My sister and I took the Taiwan High Speed Rail to Taipei today. Only took an hour and a bit as opposed to 2+ hours. It went up to 300 km/h. Pretty smooth ride. Headed to the Fashion Market to pick up some backpacking clothes. It was pretty hard to find a pair of light material capris but we managed. Back in Taichung, Alice left me in a supermarket for an hour and a half while she tutored. In the supermarket, I bought some noodles for dinner at the food court because that's all I knew how to order. I felt [View Full Entry]

My sister took me to pick up her new bicycle today. She's taking it with her to Canada. It's a pretty nice bike. I think I may pick one up myself. Giant DS821. Have a looksy. We were going to carry the giant Giant box on the scooter but when we put it on the foot rest area, we quickly realized that that wasn't the greatest idea. So, we trekked it home instead. It was awkwardly funny since our heights are quite different and I am hopelessly weak. I took a 4.5 hour afternoon nap and woke up to go [View Full Entry]
