August 7th 2008

Today is Thursday Aug. 7th Broke camp, and left Indian Trees Campground about 7:30a.m. It looks like the day will be a hot one. Chuck is still in alot of pain, and just wants to get home @ this point. He had a bad night, and had to keep taking tylenol and ibuprofen over and over to try and cut the pain. I think he must have raised the river level with as many times as he had to pee during the night. Corrie is pretty sick this morning too. He must be getting the flu or something. He looks and sounds awful. I gave him a box of DayQuil in hopes it will help him feel better. We hit the road again, and stopped in Hamilton Montana for fuel and food. Everyone got something to ... read more

August 6th 2008

Today is Wedneday Aug. 6th It's midnight. Chuck is finally able to sleep. I can see the tension leaving him. The air in the room feels clearer too. It's almost peaceful. It's 2:30, and Chuck is sick again. He has been vomiting alot. He almost passed out twice, but I saw him swaying, and caught him just in time and helped him back to the bed. It was pretty scarey. He's in terrible pain again at this point. I called for the nurse again, and they brought him some pain meds. All throughout this ordeal I have been having to remind Chuck to breathe. He is on oxygen, but the pain meds make him forget to breathe. OOPS! It's 3:30a.m. and Chucky sprung a leak! He soaked everything, and still has to go. The cold of ... read more

August 5th 2008

Today is Tuesday Aug. 5th Well our morning started out with a freakish trip to the emergency room in Dillon, Montana! Chuck was in pain from about 3a.m. He thought he'd hurt his back, and was sick to his stomach from the ice cream he had eaten. However, that was not the case. He had stretched out across my lap several times during the morning for me to rub his back. Each time I did, his back felt hotter, and he felt sweatier and clammier. The pain was getting worse too. I was really worried about him, and suggested we get some medical attention. He said no, it would stop eventually. Around 6a.m. he began doubling over, saying "oh crap, oh crap". I wanted him to go to a hospital, but he still thought it would ... read more

August 4th 2008

Today is Monday Aug. 4th Got up this morning and had coffee first thing. Chuck's camp coffee was becoming camp espresso. It rocked! Didn't take much to do the job. (= Left the campground and rode toward Ennis. On the way, we checked out a rip-off observatory @ Earthquake Lake. Didn't go into the place just out of general principle. We shouldn't have to pay for something we already pay for in the first place. Chuck, Pat, and Corrie had gone into the place, but the dude @ the counter with his little radio and mace got all testy because Chuck walked around the corner without paying his admission fee. None of them even knew there was an admission fee. The guy was really rude, so they told him so, and came back out. We decided ... read more

August 3rd 2008

Today is Sunday Aug. 3rd It was down right chilly this morning, so we started out the morning with a bon-fire. It was GREAT! Headed toward Yellowstone, and stopped on the way to see about fuel and showers. We all thought the people there were high on something-they wanted $7.00 bucks a piece for showers, and gas was over $5.00 a gallon! So we told them they could keep their crap, and headed for Yellowstone again. Went through the gates @ Yellowstone and stopped @ a Yuppie Chateau to get some breakfast. We were informed that they were "no longer serving breakfast". We were welcome to return for the evening meal. So we checked out the other restaurant in the place, and apparently everyone else had been told the same thing as there were probably 75-100 ... read more

August 2nd 2008

Today is Saturday Aug. 2nd Broke camp, and headed back down the treacherous little road to the Highway. Road into Railey and got gas. Met some bikers from Idaho. Rode on into Wyoming with them. Stopped @ a lookout spot just above Jackson Hole and took pictures. While we were there, a huge group of bikers rode in. It was great, there were bikes everywhere. Didn't stop in Jackson Hole, went on into Teton National Park instead. While we were getting ready to go through the check in station, we met some bikers from New Zealand. There were several of them, here for 7 weeks. After the Tetons, and Yellowstone, they're headed for Sturgis, then to the East Coast for the 105th. Right On. Sounds like a lot of fun! Visited the Chapel of Transfiguration. It ... read more

August 1st 2008

Today is Friday Aug. 1st Picked up and left camp @ about 7:30am The weather was beautiful this morning. Rode from LaGrande @ Catherine Creek on into Baker where some of us fueled, and we all had breakfast at the truck stop. As we were walking into the restaurant, Chuck noticed the tire on the trailer he was pulling was low. We ate breakfast, then came out to find the tire completely flat. He aired the tire up at the stations air pump, then rode accross town to Les Schwab to get it fixed. He had the tube repaired, and bought another one just in case. Rode from Baker to Ontario, Oregon where the rest of us fueled and washed our windshields. Lots of bugs out today. Rode to the border into Idaho where some took ... read more

July 31st 2008

Today is Thursday the 31st. We started out leaving Irrigon, Oregon @ 5pm. 5 people, and 4 motorcycles loaded for hilt rumbled out. We fueled in Irrigon, then rode over Powerline Rd. taking 84-East. My bike temp started rising a little too much, so we pulled over @ Stanfield Rest Area. I ride an 1100 Gold Wing Bobber. It's water cooled, and I'd been having troubles with the fan not working. It was working well, but running on the high end of the temp gauge because of the hot weather. Everything was good, so we took off again. We got up to the Mt. Emily exit, and Pat's 500 Kawasaki vapor locked. We noticed him missing about 2 miles down the road. Corrie, on his Electra Glide Harley, dumped his passenger off and went back to ... read more
