Hey, my name's Chris. I'm 23 years old from Kassel Germany.
I join this community because I'm going on a hitchhiking trip across Ireland in a few days. And since I'm planning to get into travel journalism anyway, I thought this might be good practice. By the way I can keep my folk informed about what's going on.
Let's see how it goes.

So I am back home again. The adventure Ireland is over. The term adventure is slightly hyperbolical except for the money I spend. That was quite adventerous. Ireland ist freaking expensive you wouldn't believe it. And sorry I didn't update for some time now. After I got back home I was busy getting stuff done. To be honest the rest of my trip wans't really exciting. It was still nice and I did qiute some traveling going south again. But it wasn't the same. I went to see the Giants Causeway and Malin head. Then turned South torwards Donegal and finally even further South to Waterford, Wesford. That's where I spend my last couple of days. On the Beach at Wexford. Boring but nice weather, looked like carribean to me :) I stayed there for two ... read more

Sunday August 24th Rushport, Northern Ireland So I crossed the border to Northern Ireland. Nothing changed really except for the accent, but that changes every two miles here. Yes I crossed the border, not we. Stephan left yesterday, as planned, for Germany. But first things first. I left you at that house in Glendalough, south of Dublin deep in the Wicklow Mountains and far away from any civilization. As I told you, be came to Glendalough and found it ridiculously expensive. We started asking people if we could camp on their grounds. One guy finally told us about a spot up on the mountain right next to a little pond. It’ll be quiet there, nobody would bother us. So we went up the mountain. After an hour or more walking through the night there was a ... read more

Mittwoch, 20. August 2008 Glendalough, Ireland Hi everybody. I’m glad you’re checking my blog again. Sorry I didn’t update in the last couple of days but I couldn’t find an internet connection. So here we go on a longer blog. Let me start out with where we’re at right now. We managed to get into Glendalough. A small town 30 miles south of Dublin. Which means we’re are back on the east coast of Ireland. After Doolin, where we had a very rainy night, we hitched down the road towards the Cliffs of Moher and Kilkee. We had a French couple picking us up and they drove to all the places you should see as a tourist. I’ll try to upload some pictures. It was amazing looking down these cliffs into the wild Atlantic sea. After ... read more

Freitag 15. Aug. 2008 Doolin, It is Friday night. The rain is pouring outside and trickling against the windows. I am sitting next to the fireplace on a wooden bench. The radio plays Beethoven’s 6th symphony. I have my legs stretched out towards the fire. It sounds quite romantic, doesn’t it? We are on Doolin on the west coast of Ireland. Early this morning we got the bus to Galway then hitchhiked south. It has been raining most of the day but we were fine for the longest time. It took us three rides to get down here. The Hostels are all full, but we got a spot on a campsite in which facilities we are warming up right now. The day before yesterday we went to meet some other couchsurfer. The Evening was really nice. ... read more

We are in Dublin. It’s raining on and off. We’re staying in the City Manor. A fairly poor place at Gardiner Street, corner Parnell Street but it’s cheap and dry. Last night we spend at the Dublin airport. Our plane left two hours late in Frankfurt and once in Dublin we couldn’t find a bus going in the City at this time. Luckily for us we met two German girls who hat to catch a plane early next morning. They provided us with tons of information where to go and what to do and stuff. Then we put our sleeping bags out and tried to get some sleep. At six in the morning we finally got a bus and made it into Dublin downtown. We spend the day getting a prepaid cell then calling up some ... read more

...time to put the old horse down. :) I just came back from the open flair of festival. It was awesome, the Hives, Adam Green, Ärtzte and Panteon Rococo. Just so much good music and barely any sleep in three days. I'm really tired and got an aching head but the show must go on. So I'm going through all my stuff today. Making sure I'm not gonna forget anything but which is, by the way, most likly to happen. One really good thing happend today! After waiting for days that seemed month to me, finally my new camera has arrived. A Nikon D 80. I got all the other stuff like lenses and filters last week, just the camera was sold out when I ordered. But now all is good. Sun is shining weather is ... read more

So here we go. We have excactly six days left before we take off to Dublin, Ireland. I still need to have a look on the map and decide where we're gonna go. We, by the way, is my buddy Stefan and me and me that is Chris. We want to hike across Ireland, mainly hitchhiking. That was my idea. I think there's too little left of roadculture, at least in mainstream society. I started hitchhiking last year in the US. All across the country from sea to shining sea and back. It wasn't as badass as it might sound, I was accommodated by a ton of nice people, everywhere I went. Still from time to time I put up my tent somewhere next to the highway, falling asleep to the gentle rocking of passing semi ... read more
