December 11-13th We took the longest bus ride EVER in my existence to get to Byron Bay from Hervey Bay. All of 14 hours. It was hard to sleep even for me so I didn't feel very rested when we finally got there but at the same time I felt energized and ready to party. December 7-10th 2006 Fraser Island, also known as K'Gari (meaning Paradise to the local indigenous Australians) is over 120 km long and more than 30 km across. It is the largest sand island in the world and the only way to navigate is by 4WD so Annie and I took a self-driving tour of the island for 3 days and 2 nights with a few (I think 6) other people, camping in the great outdoors just on the edges of sandy beaches and the violent surf of the ocean. December 5-7th 2006 We're staying at a hostel called Cool Bananas and it really is cool!! Situated in the town of 1770, a town that is really only six years old and prior to those six years wasn't accessible unless you had a 4x4 because of the rough terrain. This town is not well known and neither is Lady Musgrave Island but that's where we're heading to see the Great Barrier Reef up close and personal!!! December 3-4th 2006 One of the most AMAZING places I've been to thus far next to seeing the 12 Apostles along the Great Ocean Road. I have a feeling it won't be the last time I say that either! A ferry took us to the island. An island of pure, white sand and turquoise water. The trees and other vegitation are so different from what you find in Canada. November 25th 2006 Everything started off well enough. Tickets were stand-by but got a seat assigned to me right away. Luggage check-in went smoothly, snapped a couple of cheesy photos at montreal airport, had an egg mcmuffin and hugged my parents goodbye and was on my way for my 3 week long trip to the land down under baby!!! They say disasters usually happen in 3's and this trip was no exception.
