Arrived in Agra at 2pm, and taken to my hotel (in the middle of absoultely nowhere) visited the Taj Mahal and then the tour guide insisted in taking me to several shops with the usual Indian hardsell but I managed to get out of it by telling them I was 18 and just out of college so can't afford a 400 pound kashmir rug. The taj Mahal was very impressive, and big! I had quite a few indian tourists coming up to me asking if they could have their photos taken with me which was rather weird! Got the overnight train from kolkatta to new Delhi, left around 4pm and arrived 12pm the next day. Was a rather bumpy ride so was clinging on to the top of my bund bed trying not to fall of for most of the over night journey. The arrival at Delhi was completely chaotic with around 100 Indians trying to get me to their hotels, rickshaws etc. Off to Agra tomorrow by train (at 6am) home of the Taj Mahal.... read more

Arrived in Kolkatta which is pretty much what I expect 1950 England to look like. Streets are full of cows, goats, rickshaws, taxis, rubbish, makeshift houses and the occasional monkey. Ended up going on a 3 hour tour of the city with some guy pulling me round on a hand drawn cart. Pics to come soon!... read more
