The teracotta warriors were AMAZINGS. I half expected them not to be great as i was expecting and to be a bit let down, but no way. Not just the warriors themself, but the story behind them, and the concept of a young emperor commanding that many people (millions) to do his bidding and indulge him was sensational.... read more

The few days we spend cruising the Yangzte was great fun. We were fearful as to the standard of rooms we would have, but they were fine, and besides, we spent most of our time either in the restaurant, hanging out at the back of the boat, playing Mah Jong or singing karaoke hehehe.... read more

...These photos are from the first few days of our tour which we spent in Yangshuo which was a backpacker's heaven! Plenty of western food (at Chinese prices), cheap beer and nice weather. Oh, and we only had to walk about 5 metres out of our room until we arrived at the bar - YEH!!!... read more

Well we're back home...and back in to reality...wellllll into reality. I've finallllly managed to sort through the 2,000 photos I took and pick the best of them and edit what needed to be. To view the full size photos, you can click on the first one, and click on the arrows to work through them. It might take me a few nights to get them all up, so bear with me! This first lot are pics from Hong Kong where Kate, Dean & I spent our first three days, before our tour started. It really is a frantic place, but we loved it. The traffic and driving was pretty crazy (although we found out it had NOTHING on "mainland China"). The markets are THE BOMB, and I swear one day we're going to go back with ... read more

Day 27 - Wednesday Well this was the last full day of our tour. We arrived in on the train back to Shanghai early in the morning. We had a nice surprise that our rooms were actually ready when we got in to the hotel (most days we cant log in until 2pm). YAY. That meant we got to have a nice long shower and freshen up. After that we all had lunch together and picked up some earings as a farewell gift to Anne (our tour leader Jerry's girlfriend who we begged to join us for the last part of the tour). The evening was GREATTTTT.... The 8 of us (Dean & I, Kate & Mike, Sean & Trudy and John & Jen) headed out on the town. First up was cocktails on the 87th ... read more

Well good to see everyone had a good laugh at us in the Mao hats mwahahah. Just while I remember I neglected to mention that after 20 odd days in China and despite the hair raising driving we saw our very first accident...it just happenned that we were involved IN it. Oh....and it was in a rickshaw mwahahhaa. It was as we were being pedalled around the Hutongs in Beijing. We were winding through the narrow streets and our driver tapped a paser by (who really handt bothered to move out of the way) and it was ONNNN! The pedestrian was totally offended and screaming at our drive. All the other drives stopped and came to the defense of our driver. The pedestrian then procceded to drag a massive concrete block in to the middle of ... read more
