Hi, It,s nice to be back home again among the ones how are dearest to me. After spending a week and a half in London (no Cycling) in which time there was a lot of family get-to-gethers,talking,eating,as well as a little sightseeing and window-shopping with my wife,Isabel and my son,Leonard, i felt it was time to continue my journey. My brother, Pat took me to Harwich where i boarded the night ferry to the Hook of Holland. After a beer and a chat with two Dutch ladies who had cycled around- and in London,i made my way to the very comfortable cabin i had booked (compulsory!). Did,nt sleep too well, i assume that was because the cabin had no window. Landed in Holland and was confronted with a stormy, strong North wind which didn't exactly fill me ... read more

It,s a somewhat dismal day which started with rain and seems to want to continue so. Just right to sit in the local library and do a bit off blogging.Ten days ago i left Edinburgh and shortly after reached The Moorfoot Hills, which were over 400mtr. high but very easy to cycle because the climb was very graduel. The view from there was magnificent . Edinburgh could be clearly seen in the distance on that beautiful day . I continued to Melrose, taking a coffee and scone break in Innerleithen. On the 4th.August my stay in Scotland ended in Berwick upon Tweed where my Koga Bike was treated to a new chain. It has been a lovely time spent with my wife in the Highland where we had a little more than our fair share of rain(Isabel will agree). ... read more
Well, actuelly the day started with sunshine and lasted till 3pm which made the 30th.Edinburgh Festival, which has just started, very enjoyable place to be. First a free outdoor concert given by local group ( i think) of musicans playing traditional airs, walzes and much more. Then the rain started which was ok as there were plenty of tables with umbrellas. At 4pm i visited a concert with Fapy Lafertin playing in honour of Django Reihnardt 100 birthday (The Edinburgh Jazz Festival is titled Django 100). It was a concert of perfection as far as my humble ears can judge.Theres is so much to see that it would take a week to discover everything. That R1 cycle route from the Forth Bridge to Edenburgh is well signposted and the last 4km. are on a quiet Path which made ... read more
Well, here i am on the Orkneys on a very blustery ,rainy day. After arriving by ferry from Lerwick,Shetland at 11pm ,i rode to the nearby camping site together with Doug and Ollie from Bedford whom i met at Bergen Airport ,Very nice and humorful Englishmen. The Facilities were excellent (after a lady divulged the code needed to enter the the showers etc.) and at £6.50 very reasonable .Had intended travelling to Stromness but the weather put me off,so thats why i,m now able to blog. The time spent on the Shetlands was interesting and exciting visiting Bird colonies in the South at Sumburgh in the the North on Unst which was quite a long trip but after seeing 10 of thousends of bird hatching and feeding their young on the steep cliffs at Hermaness in northern Unst ,it ... read more
Hello again, Greetings from a really lovely and interesting City surrounded by mountains that offer a fantastic view over the whole area.I arrived here on the 22.June and have since resided in a beautiful house overlooking Bergen (thanks to Tone and Ina)which is absolute luxury. After 2 days of roaming around town and at last seeing a World Cup match,my first!(Japan-Denmark) yesterday evening,I,m having my lazy day today and apart from trying to reduce 7 pieces of luggage into 3 which i managed (plastic sacks,Thanks Lillo for the tip) i,m enjoying the relaxation after over a months travel in which my weight has dropped by 7Kg.which surprised me because i ate like a horse all the way.Norway has been good to me since crossing the border from Sweden on the 6.june.Weatherwise, it was one days rain and ... read more
hello every one of you, Thank you all for your greetings and encouragement. It was only today that i saw your comments for the first time and was very touched by the amount of messages you have sent, keep it up! My trip is running very much to plan and i feel confident that i,ll beat the hills to come although the toughest are still ahead . I,d like to give you a rundown on the route since arriving in Goteborg on the 2nd.June. After touring goteborg city, (which was,nt planned, Claudia and i were in search of a youth hostel and my Navigator sent us in circles) we reached the hostel which, i assume was previosly a barracks with long corridors to search through till we found our rooms. headed downtown to buy a suitable ... read more
I,m on the NordsOe Camping site in Tingodden situated about 6 km. south of Hvide Sande. It is very comfortable with good cooking and restroom facilities as well as an internet room. Its is very quiet here at present which suits me fine having a whole kitchen to myself. Setting up my tent was very difficult because of the gale force winds that howled when i arrived the day before yesterday and in the middle of the night i had to do some securing because the tent was flattering like a ducks tail . After that i got a few hours sleep ,luckily yesterday was my rest day . After doing my laundry i crossed the big sand dune separating my tent from the North Sea and strolled along the beach until the wind drove me ... read more
