Closing shop, opening market... Asia » India » Kerala » Kochi
Hello friends. Transition time is over. I am now no longer using this blog site. Everything has been moved over to blogspot.com. You can find it from there, but might I suggest that you visit the home site for my program first. Its www.yavindia.net and it will redirect you to my blog at all times. If it doesn't currently it will. http://davidbuco.blogspot.com/ Happy readings (I posted 11 notes today for the month of nov and december) and thanks for the support. Catch you on the flip side, Buco [View Full Entry]

Not Dead; Shiften Gears Asia » India » Kerala » Kochi
Today is the first day that I have logged on to my blog in apparently a long time. In case you were worried, I am not dead. I am very much in a period of transition. I have been here several months and settled into my site. The traveler side of me is fading away as I embrace my commitment to serve. I am moving blog sites from travelblogs, to yavindia.net, seeing as I am not so much a traveler. All this has not really been helped by a busy schedule and my uncanny ability to procrastinate. If you did not [View Full Entry]

Not afraid of Spiders Asia » India » Kerala » Kochi

Brown Recluses do not exist in India as they are native to America. The pictures are not good either to ID the spider.
Not afraid of Spiders So I am not afraid of spiders. But somehow the rumor got started that I am terrified of them. That I do not like them and that I am very very afraid. This is not true. I love camping and I like nature. I love and am fascinated by spiders. Clearly I am not afraid of spiders. One day when I was first here, I noticed that there were insects living in the doorframe to my room. My first thought was that they were termites coming to wreak havoc on my new found home. I pointed these [View Full Entry]

So I feel like it’s about that time again to type up some more of my experiences and how things are going in general. I also have the free time to do it today because yesterday and today are holidays. Which is good because my days off are often split between doing things with various people around town and a day of down time where I run around and try to do the things I have to do, then try to get as much rest as possible. In fact, I will have to write this post in parts because I have [View Full Entry]

Hitting the Ground Running Asia » India » Kerala » Kochi
Hitting the Ground Running So I do not have very much time, so I will make this brief. After a week and a night at Achen's house, we all went our separate ways. The training time was over. No more comfort and security of a family that was used to volunteers. No more people who were there to help get us used to India and acclimate. Nothing is scarier than being pushed out of Taxi door on the step of a building in a strange land. Well, at least that part is true. Nothing is scarier than that first step out [View Full Entry]

So Where to Begin So where to begin? I guess I can start with getting on the plane in New Orleans, Louisiana. Here after a cup of coffee, I left my mom, dad, younger brother, and girlfriend (I miss them) to board a plane for what promises to be an adventure of a life time. Because of Hurricane Gustav I was not able to fly out on that Monday (Sept. 1). If you did not know, that is the day Gustav came across my beautiful home state, once again redesigning the look of coastal Louisiana, most notably for the worst. [View Full Entry]
