Head up to Sonoma and check out the wineries. If you ever want to see your golf clubs again bring back a bottle of something really special (like a bottle of Sebastiani, Glen Ellen or some other esoteric red) and a sourgough loaf. Only kidding, just bring back Eileen >> her pals desperate to see her. Don't worry about the golf clubs John. They're in safe hands. Cash Converters came highly recommended you know !! See you two soon, RR

Hi son, Great to hear you two are enjoying your holiday. We rember all the places we went especially the fantastic beach at Lido and Siesta Keys. Are you going to Busch Gardens? We're staying in Lido key, went to the world famous tiki hut on the beach, don't know if I remeber correctly but think last time we were here we tried to find it and couldn't. Thinking of you a lot round here cos everywhere we go i remember being here with you and mum. Central america's sounding fun, you're obvioulsy much better than me and Mhairi at haggling, we would probably have been robbed by now! Giant's causeway is beautiful, but some drive up there, but obviously not as far as you've just travelled! Keep having fun, not long now till you're back in the homeland - see you there. Hi Carol, I doubt Eileen will ever moan about stagecoach again, after travelling on the ´ chicken bus ´ The amount of wildlife we have seen has been amazing, just left an area in Nicaragua where bull sharks are to be found in the lake, needless to say we never ventured a swim. ps the pics of the family look great!

This work stuff's been getting in the road ~ but somebody has to do it I suppose. Still, I did take comfort from that very sore looking big toe. Why did you put it in your blog ?? Were you looking for a sympathy vote ~ well that's just never going to happen, is it ?? But while we're on the subject have I told you about my piles recently ?? God damn it, the weather's got them all hot and bothered. I'm convinced I'm sitting down on a bunch of grapes all the time ??

Hi Johnnie, just received e'mail with web address so i am able to catch up again on your travels. N.Z. looks amazing beautiful scenery and looks so clear. See what you mean with the parking a bit close for comfort, what a cheek! Hope Eileen has gotten over her cold had it myself last week so know how she feels. You are both looking great. Take it you have heard the gers are doing well, Matt and David are over the moon. David has not heard anything since applying for brigade but i suppose they would have had thousands of applications. His friend Gerard McAlpine (Big Gerrys son) started his training in Gullane 2 weeks ago but he had been waiting 2 years to get accepted. Anyways take care both of you and will be in touch again soon. Hello New Zealand - From: Summertime and the Living is Easy, Not Quite
Hi to you both, By the time you get this you will be well into your NZ experience. Loved the Australia travelogue, especially the stories from your time on the islands and the reef. Seeing John in a wetsuit, it doesn't seem so long ago that your Vietnam blog noted that John wasn't too happy on water. How things change. It'll be windsurfing off the Heads of Ayr next. I am with Richard, John should grow a beard. It would help cultivate the Gandalf look now you are in the land of Lord of the Rings. The only downside is that you may be constantly accompanied by LOTR background music. We have just finished our own "mini tour" with a weekend in Berlin. What a great city, so much history, culture and nightlife. It's shaping up to be the capital of Europe. Already on the web looking for hotels and flights for a return visit later this year. I hear that in the next series of Lost there will be a character based on Gordon Strachan who has spent a year all at sea ever since his flimsy construction was battered by hurricane Walter. Keep the updates coming. Cheers Gordon & Lilian

And here was me thinking that I'll be sailing again myself in a couple of weeks. The sailing season starts again mid-April and I can't wait. Unfortunately sailing on the Clyde can't quite equal the scenery that you've been experiencing. Still, you've got to make do with what you've got. Somehow or another I can't see myself snorkelling in the Kyles of Bute though. You guys are having great fun !! Wish I was there. Maybe when you get back John you can show me how to fit a "chuckoozy" on board. Just now I'm struggling to imagine how it could fit. The answer must be a bigger boat ?? Slainthe, RR

back to basics at last - From: Sand Everywhere
this blog is so uncanny. its like watching an episode of lost. the first part was watching these city folk trying to adapt to life in the middle of nowhere(if you consider prestwick was ever somewhere that is). their hair became frazzled, their new tans covered over their fake tans with ease. Eileen even looks like Kate. If John grows hi hair a bit he could look like the standard scottish dude american tv shows throw in for a laugh. Are you with me here. Then they head off to australia and suddenly we have civilization again. Yip, current series of lost i hear you say! Then just when you think you have figured it out, they are back in the middle of nowhere with strange creatures coming out of the dark and stealing clothes and stuff. This stuff is exciting. I cant wait for the next instalment. glad to see its taken on a more exciting twist again. Although John needs to grow a distinctive beard. It will keep it real and hell be able to scare off any guys with celtic tops. as if being a rangers fan wasnt enough to do that. Anyway great to read new blog. rich, kristian and anne-mari

i not only love green curries its one of my speciality dishes that i cook. When iwas in Bath with the band me and the keyboard player were looking for a burger king, or hungry jack. Could not find one, so we went to a thai restuarant. ended up having a silver service candle lit dinner, just the two of us. We both never eat so quick, felt very stupid.
