Five great days of trekking on the Singalila Ridge which is the border between Nepal and India with Bhutan lurking not too far, hence the numerous army checkpoints and camps along the way. No yaks, no cooks, no porters: just sweaty backs, trekker huts, dal and rice and one great guide. This trek offered panoramic views of three of the five highest mountains in the world: yowza! ... read more

We made our way to Sikkim in northeast India for a trek. It is an Indian state nestled between Nepal, Bhutan and Tibet; as an obvious result, there is a heavy Buddhist presence there. It may not be Nirvana, but Yuksom (the starting point of our trek) did provide a quiet look into Sikkimese life. ... read more

The Darjeeling area of West Bengal (or Gorkhaland if you side with the locals) has been a great introduction into life in the Himalayan foothills. The mountain sides are home to terraced fields, scenic hilltop towns/cities and fantastic views of the Himalayan range. Our ringing eardrums think it was a tie. ... read more

It was a whirlwind weekend with bright lights and hotel frights. Through the use of fast ferries, slow ferries, subways, double decker buses, mini buses, double decker trams, funiculars, cable cars and sampans, it was a veritable transit tour of Hong Kong. From great modern architecture and crowded streets to mountain top temples and fishing villages on stilts, Hong Kong packed in a punch; Bruce Lee style.... read more
