Recently moved to Sydney Australia from Washington DC. I'm just a wayward American lookin to fit in.

I moved! Yay! My new address is: 1/50 Epping Road, Lane Cove NSW 2066. For those of you who want to mail me some wholesome American love - I would prefer it in unmarked boxes containing Velveeta cheese, Hellmann’s Real Mayonnaise and Hot Buffalo Sauce! But seriously, I moved and seriously you cant mail it to me, because Australia is really strict with receiving any food products into the country… they’ll take it from me rinse it out the contents and send me the box with an informative pamphlet that will have a list of things that aren’t allowed into the country… L So yeah, I moved. I have a sweet pad about 10 minutes North of the CBD - Central Business District… Sydney is pretty small and I just live a bit north of ... read more

Greetings everyone.... I must say, we've been getting a lot of news about the disaster in New Orleans. It is headline news - the national news here is a bit fluffy, but last night on 60 minutes (no really it's 60 minutes only with better graphics, bad anchor back lighting and more in depth coverage). They really showed everything... not fluffy foo foo news, but hardcore trauma to New Orleans - imagine all the raw video we received in house at Channel 9(and for those of you who didn't work at 9, think of all the things I told you about, dead bodies and such) Seven news saved two families trapped in the Super Dome... I can only see Tracy and Todd down in front of the dome doing a live shot with people screaming behind ... read more

It's 11am on a Sunday and I'm sitting in the sun just looking at the clouds and trees. It is about 70 today, but looking outside reminds me of when I was a kid. The trees were a bit bare and the sky looked a tad bit cold and snowy. The lights would hit the trees in such a way that I knew it was winter... and quite fitting enough, it's winter here. I have been here three weeks yesterday and it feels like a blink. I pass the airport daily which is a constant reminder that if i want to come home, I can.... but there's just too much here.... Ever heard of KungFU Hustle? Yep. Awesome - I bet it released in the US over a year ago, but I saw it for the ... read more

Ah well, another week has past... and I am still in one piece! I've had a full week of work and man, it's been an incredible *adjusting experience! Imagine having to wake up every day at 8am to get to your 9am job... only to arrive at work at 9:30 OR even 10am... tragic. I have difficulty waking up in the mornings... I havent woke up at 8am since high school. I dont know how I ever did it! I dont even know how some of you guys do it every day! I think it's nuts! Waking up in the morning only to slouch around and jump in a shower that hardly wakes you... oh! AND speaking of showers.... Imagine getting out of bed (mind ... read more

G'Day Mates! Well, It's been a whole week here in Oz and it's chocked full of excitement! Yes, that's right! I arrived here at 7:30 in the AM, sweat right through customs and immigration - cause I didn't have my visa in time, so I entered as a 'visitor' only... and then, got extremely ill with some sort of flu for a bunch of days... I'm still fighting it to this day... but now I can walk and not fall over! So, with that said, I've tried out the Australian Health Care system and I'm still not a bit sure about it... First, They didn't issue me any Rx... nope. Here I am practically in tears from the hurt of my sore throat... and he sent me out the door on my way home to stagger ... read more

Delete. Backspace, backspace, delete.... That's exactally what it feels like. Remeber that feeling when you started to pack for college - putting all your things in boxes for that first *big move... ya know, where you'd be living on your own for the *very first time. Scary wasnt it. A lot of you wouldnt admit that. That's okay. But you all know that YOU were scared. Scared to find out who that psycho roommate was, scared because of that evil professor... scared that classes would be too hard... but at the same time, you were thrilled! Exicited! You couldnt WAIT! You wanted to get the hell out of your parent's house - you didnt want to live by rules anymore... Well, in so many ways, what I am experiencing right now is just that... but ... read more

25 days until my last day of work. 38 days till I'm in Australia - visa pending. That's right. I have a work visa that I am waiting for clearence for. I've done everything I can here - it's just a waiting game. It seems that all my close friends and family are jealous that I am leaving for Australia. They dont think that I'm coming back to the states. I keep hearing 'oh, well, i guess that's the last time you'll see them." and... "I guess I'll never see you again." No! Stop being so damn negative! It's crazy. I'm sorry that I'm following a dream of mine to live in Australia. Have you dreamed before? Well, I guess if you really wanted me to stick around, I could just live in a tralier park ... read more

I moved. It was quite an adventure to say the least. We had pre-arrianged a U haul (14 foot) and a helper for Sunday the 15th, but we ran into some mishaps - First, and formost, U Haul sucks. Dont use them. They laugh at you when you have a problem... so anyway, the guy goes, we dont have the truch you want.. it's either the 10 foot or the 26 footer... We wanted to do it in one shot.. so we opt for the 26 footer. (truck I drove) http://www.uhaul.com/guide/?equipment=truck26 One guy asked, me "you drive stick?" I'm like, "yeah.." Ali goes, "Her car is stick." Little did I know after two other people asked me if i could drive stick that you need a friggin CDL to drive the damn thing!!! Ali, drove off ... read more
