Tahs in Onsen Kurtly and the boys have been spending too much time in the onset and failed to beat the Force at home; would prefer pics from female onsen please.
Keep up the great work Hi Guys,
Life in Sth. cronulla goes on. On means, don't leave for work too late or you'll be caught in the traffic at the top of Nicholson near the station at 8.30 am. On means how many times do I have to do the circuit around Cronulla St. to get a park at 7.30am on a Sunday morning? On means what happened to all the banks and why the is the surf not like it used to be when I was a boy? On means good but expensive coffee. On means the council puts all these white lines on the road to improve parking but there's nowhere to park. And then they put yellow lines on the road to point out where you can't park in the spots you used to park in when you slipped into the bottlo in less than the twinkling of an eye. Huh?
All I can say is; lucky bastards, keep up the great work.
Best,
The other Yatesy.
Home in a few weeks Reality sounds like a barrel of laughs. If there's one thing that will drive (pardon the pun) me out of Cronulla it will be the traffic.

Evolving techno wise Loved your word descriptions of the lack of sensual stimulation. You would expect a city of this size to be an assault. As you say it speaks to their politeness. Yes the techies are taking over the world. Eager to hear more of your impressions.
A hedonistic oasis Sounds like you've been hiding in plane sight when the local of Sumatra are not familiar with the island. Very cool. The allure of fine cuisine may draw us to this island oasis. Love listening to the thrill of surfer dudes finding waves off season. Good job. We are not surfers but is the diving any good in this area? What do you know? Your secret location is safe with us.
Gary, no I won't be there. Might of done my last Pitstop . Did a month late last year (John Boy was there) but found it a bit of a chore ,really.. I had a heart attack in August and prostate problems when I got back , plus a stuffed knee so it became a bit hard. "Between me and you" I'm a bit over the crowd factor with more and more camps starting up as well. I'm thinking of Tasmania and NZ for some camping surfing exploring type trip ..hope you get good waves though mate..
Hey Gary Went to that fish market for a work assignment in 1983. Amazing then and now. The tuna auctions were like watching thoroughbred auctions. Incredible . Happy traveling, Greg.
Best bit of Sumatra I too felt a bit urghh about publishing blogs from this region - its kind of the place you want to keep to yourself. Am not a surfer but a diver so I go to the other end of the Mentawi chain but great to hear there are some more accomodation options for surfers too. Wouldnt it be nice though if the ocean hit the snooze button once or twice :)
Great similes! Love to hear about this place laced with such great similes! So- hometown Cronulla? My husband was born in Caringbah and went to Endeavour High School 65-71and was a Cronulla regular. They moved there as a family and his Mum still lives there. We have to get together - sometime!!
Off season is the best season! Those were some pretty righteous waves for being the off-season, and since there wasn't a big competition for them, they looked pretty perfect to me! Congrats on finding a slice of paradise!
Gary and Penny, from the beginning... Again. Round the world for a year in 07 and we've decided it's time once more. So packing up the house, the jobs, selling the cars and up up and away, this time with no return ticket and no fixed itinerary. A smidgin reckless, sure, but what the hell. May as well indulge in a few passions before the last great journey in who knows when.
Stay tuned and please stay in contact, cause whilst we love seeing what the rest of the world has to offer, we also love receiving news from home base.... full info
