I had been looking forward to this day the entire trip but it didn't start off quite as we had planned. As if the fire alarm fiasco yesterday wasn't enough, we woke up at 6:00 this morning to the banging noise of tile workers removing tile in the bathroom above us. Well it's day 25 and it's the end of the journey for Kayla and Emily. The four of us woke up, got our showers and prepared to head out for the Vegas airport. Good Morning !! Well it was our last day in California but we were off to see what Las Vegas had to offer. Tim and I packed up five days worth of stuff while we let the girls sleep in one last time. Today was another awesome day !! We began the day by heading off to find the famous Hollywood sign. After driving through Los Angeles and down Sunset Boulevard, yes the one and only Sunset, Tim and Magellan took us right to Mulholland Drive where we had a spectacular view of the big letters. I had seen it so many times before in movies, books and on television but it was so cool to be able to stand in the street and look up at it on that big hill. We were all very slow to rise this morning. I even considered, for a brief moment, about getting a cup of coffee with the rest of my crew. We all slept in until about 11:00 and one at a time we gradually began to come to life. I guess you could say we were pretty "wiped out". Today was another very exciting but exhausting day for the four of us. As if walking around Disney wasn't enough, we promised the girls we would take them to Knott's Berry Farm Amusement Park. For those of you who are not familiar with this park, it is the equivalent to our Six Flags. The girls were really excited because it had a lot more of the BIG roller coasters and rides that Disney didn't really offer. Today was AWESOME !!! We got up this morning and called Enterprise to come pick us up so we could get a car to use while we are here in California. It's so cool that they come and get you and take you to the car of your choice. We ended up with a 2008 Toyota Avalon and much to our surprise it is a really great car. I found out this morning that we actually stayed in a town called Paso Robles, California last night. The girls showered in the motor home last night so we let them sleep late while we packed up and headed towards the Hearst Castle. Tim pulled into the Chevron to fill up the Coachman as I walked over to McDonald's to get some breakfast and coffee. I discovered that McDonald's has these new cinnamon rolls that are to die for !! After very little sleep on the pull-out couch, in the Circuit City parking lot, Tim and I woke up, showered in the motor home and started looking for a place to settle into for the next day or two. We let the girls sleep while we tried to figure out where we were going and what all we were going to do in San Francisco. I opened up the computer and started searching.
