Have you ever seen the film Indochine? It's one of my all time favorite flicks and although it is set in Vietnam, much of the movie was filmed on Penang Island in Malaysia where there is beautiful colonial architecture still intact. I decided to visit Penang mainly to see and stay at the historic Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion after reading about it in a guidebook. To my delight, on the mansion tour, I learned that the mansion was one of the settings used in Indochine. What a treat to see actual set pieces used by Catherine Deneuve! The Blue Mansion
