Its very true and for me it was like a run for your life signal. I didn't know people notice it, may be I have been here for long. Not so long just 5 years. From your story seems like you had some horrible experiences, may be you were anticipating for it, I wouldn't know but my first experiences were pretty cool, I was in a good hostel and never saw the night crawlers alias cockroaches, I think it all depends on where you go in any city because am sure not all cities are absolutely clean. There is always some bit of filth left here and there. I like your experiences and I really hope you enjoy your stay in Kuala Lumpur, but i choose to see the city beautiful because thats what I had anticipated for when I came here.
