Not exactly positive where I left off exactly. I think with Ol Pejeta. After our day there where we saw chimps at their sanctuary created by Jane Goodall and the old dying rhino we went back to the El Kamara camp for our last night. There were apparently lions prowling aroung that night, but I never heard them. I haven’t heard any of the wild animals people have been talking about since we got here. Just last night Erin said there was a huge buffalo right outside our room knocking small trees down. Sleep right through it. I think I might be immune to animal noises since I grew up next to farm animals. Its still surprising though, since I have always been a light sleeper. The next morning we left El Karama conservancy, leaving behind ... read more

Blog 3!! I have finally made it! I left off on the morning walk at El Karama on our first morning. We walked for a good hour an a half with frequent stops to assess a track or observe an animal. I donned my shower shoes, choosing to use my own rather than the used pairs that were provided for me, and begun to fiddle with the different facets to try to obtain the perfect bathing temperature; a difficult task to say the least. With both a hot and cold-water knobs, I found that the water was either scalding or freezing. Not only that, but I found that mosquitoes also liked to join me in my bathing ritual. ... read more

January 2nd 2012

Sorry if the spelling/grammar is horrible. No time to review right now Will add photos soon!!!! January 2, 2012. Just the second day into what has been advertised to be the most important year in human history, thanks to the Mayans. What better way to celebrate the end of the world than by heading off to Kenya? A place that I have little to no chance of visiting in the future once I leave college and study abroad trips are no longer an option for me. Sure, its hard to leave your loved ones behind, even sadder when they drop you off at the airport and wish you the best of luck, but honestly, how do you have a life altering experience when you refuse to leave the comfort of your home? The familiar atmosphere in ... read more
