Yay!! Hi Bud, I am so happy that you are blogging again! I love all the detailed information that we don't usually cover while on Skype. The photos are great, the first Lake Baikal picture with the tree in it is magical...it would be a great postcard, or a good submission to National Geographic. Can't wait for the next entry, stay safe & have fun! I love you, xoxoxo
snake n cobra wine a friend brourght me a bottle of snake n cobra wine and i went on the internet to find out what i were getting and i found this story. i dont think i could drink the cobra blood n its heart and im going to consider drinking the wine i have to show it off first. wish me luck
Hmm Very cool..its interesting to me that you like to explore every inch of the world! Im not sure I would survive all of that! LOL hope u stay safe. : )
Snake Wine and Soup I have done a number of tours of Asia.. snake wine is very common in many areas, same with snake soup.
In Xian, original capital of China, I enjoyed shocking my tour buddies by drinking snake wine ..it was strong, but tasted OK.
In Saigon I drank snake wine and ate snake soup, both tasty. In Hong Kong, I drank snake wine, ate broiled scorpions, shark fin soup, bird's nest soup, snake soup, and baby octopus ..all of it tasted pretty good.
Thailand also has lots of snake-based food. Local celebrations often served big trays of cobra..
Japanese people eat enormous quantities of eel and Chinese Pizza Hut serves lots of "deep-sea eel pizza".
Americans tend to be very wimpy when presented with other culture's foods .. I say try it at least once ..it will widen your view of the world and make friends quickly. They appreciate your respect for their culture.
and they blamed it on the wine I had snake wine and snake soup in Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Beijing, Xian and Shanghai ..good stuff .. and it prevents you from getting "traveler's sickness". Reptiles and insects have very strong immune systems. Many of the world's oldest Chinese people drink small amounts of snake wine on a daily basis.
I also ate a number of broiled scorpions ..crunchy ..and had shark fin and birdnest soup ..also very tasty.
In Thailand and Vietnam I had cobra soup, stir-fried beetles, and lots of other "mystery food". I am very healthy and alive, so these foods certainly did not hurt me.
Adventure people try new foods ..non-adventure people should try new foods also ..it can give ypu a big picture of the world.
What are horrible experience First of all, let a Malaysian clarify some things about your horrible KL experience:
1) There are 2 terminals in KLIA - you found out about that a little bit too late. I guess when you approached the lady at the bus terminal, she assumed you knew that you wanted to head to the Low Cost Terminal, which by the way only has buses to and fro KL City.
2) While Air Asia's check in counter closes 45 minutes before departure, Malaysia Airlines probably closes earlier than that? Also, you might have bought a ticket which disallows credit transfer, especially if you bought it dead cheap...
3) Gosh, you hate Nasi Lemak? It's Malaysia's most popular breakfast! After Roti Canai (Prata) that is. If you don't like Nasi Lemak, I bet you wouldn't like Durians too =)
4) Final Call - I don't understand this as well. The same thing actually happened when I was transiting in Changi (Singapore). One minute the remark was 'Boarding', the next moment it was 'Last Call'! But when I ran to the Gate, it wasn't even opened!
The next time you visit Malaysia, do consider visiting other places such as Penang, Malacca, or even Borneo (Kuching/Kota Kinabalu). Cheers!
photos! You took amazing photos!!! Love the diving shots, just beautiful! Now, let's talk about how freaken skinny you have gotten! Geez. If I know Darlene, you'll be fattened up in no time. Oh, one more thing. The pic of you in the water in Phi Phi looks totally fake and photo shopped, which is really weird, cause I know better. But doesn't it?!?!
Awww....Good ol' Pol Pot Hey Cameron,
Glad to see all is well. Just reading this blog. How amazing that must have been. I remember reading years and years ago about Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge, and wondering why nobody in America really had any interest. As the years passed I realized that there really was nothing to gain...no oil...no natural resources..nothing to exploit, so Pol Pot made kill-kill and we just watched the Cosby Show.
Anyway, great read man and I am glad you got to see what you did. I would have loved to be there for this part of the trip...macabre history like this interests me to no end. Along with so many of your travels, you'll never forget this.
Enjoy and keep the blogs a comin.....Jess is getting in editor mode!
Later man,
Alan

http://www.asiansnakewine.com
Thanks for help.
(by the way I found your website on Google when looking for Snake wine bottles)
I'm exhausted from your blog, little bro Ok..so how the hell Mom and Dad sleep at night I will never know. The way you travel in stride, rolling with the punches, is amazing to me. I would have been outta there. I was so worried about your travels, then I saw the picture of the million wasted teenagers, so that made me feel much better and more at ease ; )
Please take care of yourself and your sister. I miss you both something terrible! Maybe when you get back to the States you can come to calm Daytona Beach for a very boring time on one of our boats. We have water toys to drag your ass around on..We can always take the twin engine boat to liven the speed to 5 mph, though after your rope swing-err-dental floss swing-experience, even that may seem uneventful. Either way, here we promise not to dry heave on you! I love you with all my heart little brother. Continue to take good care of yourself and your friends and ESPECIALLY my little sister. Tell Kailie I love her! All my love is yours always Cameron...I love you....Love, Your big sister who worries something awful about her siblings!
Your Tubing Experience These entries are awesome! I am loving the tubing story. Hysterical. That place is like nothing I have ever heard of. Keep up the writing Cam! You will love having these journals once this trip is over. xo
Your Bangkok Entry Hey hermano,
I am LOVING your entries. Please keep writng and posting pics. You are freakin funny! I knew this already, but I am really enjoying reading about your experiences. Oh, and I chose to use my imagination rather than googling "ping pong show" cause you know, I am at work on school computers.
Love you so much. Be safe and HAVE FUN! xoxox
Hi little brother! Just came on to check your blog. I am so proud that you are keeping up with it! I hope you all have a killer time all over Asia. Don't slack on the blog. It's nice to get to experience some of your travels.
Also, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! I talked to Dad and he told me you got accepted into the Peace Corp. I am so stoked for you Cam!! You endured a lot of shit to get through that application process, but it was totally worth it! Congrats again. That's a really amazing opportunity, and it will be prefect for you.
Love you hermano!!!!
Winter quite interesting blog. You really should visit Beijing in the summer. I have been to northern China in winter before. man, it's as cold as Siberia!
Wow. You were on something with such an amazing history. Hopefully you took a lot of pictures! Bummer about the shower. I have done that camping... freezing our butts off all day then jumped into a almost freezing river to get clean. Not the most comfortable moment! Have fun and keep the e-mails coming!!
Hey Bud! Hi,
I am so happy that you started this blog. It had to be surreal standing on the Great Wall. I am sure you are happy to be in some warm weather now. It was 6 degrees here yesterday, so you're in a good spot.
Great detail in your writing.Dad and I really enjoyed it.
