I love living here. I love that we can just walk a few blocks and we’re in the middle of 2500 years of history. Everywhere you turn there is an ancient ruin from the time of Julius Caesar or a fountain by Bernini or a piazza designed by Michelangelo. It’s just amazing, and I really find myself appreciating life a lot more. School is really getting to be very busy now. We all did homework the entire weekend. Sorry for not posting more. I've been so incredibly busy. I now know what they mean by TEFL is an "intense" course. I am in school all day with the exception of a late start in the morning, and a few hours scattered throughout the day. I usually return to my apartment at 9pm. It's crazy. Tonight is my first teaching practice and I'm a bit nervous. We're teaching the "British" English to the students, and to be honest, I never thought I'd find myself saying the word mum instead of mom. I am just finishing up my second day of class. This has been VERY intense so far. We're generally in school from 9:30 or 10am until 7 or 8:30pm each day (a few very short breaks in between). It has been great to actually be in school again and to learn new things, even though I do actually know English already :) But it amazes me as to what you could forget after not learning grammer for 14 years. I know I'm falling behind on posting blogs, so here are a couple more (separated by day) to keep you up to date. More to follow... March 29, 2008 We slept in kind of late today. When we close the shutters in the bedroom, it’s so dark that we can’t tell if it’s daylight or not. So, we somehow managed to sleep until about 1pm. We showered and then set off on our day. March 28th We arrived in Rome 2 hours later than scheduled because the flight took off from Philly almost 3 hours late. We sat on the plane for 2.5 hours while they fixed the malfunctioning cargo door. We were off to a rough start already. Luckily we made it to Rome and got off the plane by 9:45am. We thought for sure we'd make it to the 10am pick-up service we had scheduled. We didn't actually get our luggage until 10:15am.
