I graduated 3 years ago and started working for a Fortune 10 corporation. Recently, I was blessed with the opportunity to work abroad, which has brought me to a place in my life that renders me speechless, with so much to say yet so humbled by the experience. Working in the Caribbean is a dream that I recently woke up and realized I was living...

On Friday, Ana Maria and I departed the Port of Marin in southern Martinique and landed in the Port of Castries, St. Lucia around 4PM. We took a brief taxi ride to Rodney Bay Village to find my favorite hotel thus far in our travels. I had made reservations at the boutique hotel Coco Palm, this weekend happened to be their official grand opening weekend to the public (it’s been open since July). Upon arrival, we were greeted immediately and made to feel welcome in our temporary residence for the weekend. The service at this hotel supersedes any other in my lifetime. In fact, I believe this weekend I stumbled upon the nicest people on the planet, and definitely the nicest people in the Caribbean. The rooms were decorated plantation-style with imported mahogany furniture from Indonesia ... read more

I spent the weekend underwater in Guadeloupe. On Saturday morning, I decided to look into scuba diving. Besides, I needed to check out my new Atomic 1st and 2nd stages. Did I mention how much better it is with your own dive gear? I ended up diving Saturday and Sunday in Bouillante in Basse Terre with Les Heures Saines. Bouillante is located along the coast at the foot of the Mamelles mountain range about 30 kilometers from the Guadeloupe’s active volcano La Soufriere. The black sand on the beach of Bouillante can be attributed to the volcano, which is another reason the reef is so abundant with colorful marine life. The dive shop is located on the water at the Parc de Reservee Cousteau. The diving is just a short boat hop about ¼ mile offshore. ... read more

This weekend, Ana Maria and I decided to go exploring for the hidden treasures of Guadeloupe. On Saturday, we headed to St. Anne (one of the most beautiful beaches in Grande Terre) and decided to spend the day at Club Med. There were a plethora of activities to choose from: sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, trapeze, scuba (not on Sat.), snorkeling, jet skis, and the list goes on and on…For 53 Euros, we got a wristband that allowed us full access to all the activities at the Club until 6PM and included lunch and an open bar. Ana Maria kayaked for the first time with me, and the funniest thing we did was drag our lounge chairs into the surf so we could sunbathe with water to cool off! The day was beautiful! On Sunday, our exploring took ... read more

Well, I just got back from a weekend in Harbour Island in Eleuthera, Bahamas. My Bahamian buddy Jason was my travel companion. The adventure began with our flight Saturday morning...we arrived at the airport 10 minutes before departure because my alarm did not go off! We were checked-in and put on the plane--only in the Bahamas!!! That would have NEVER happened in ATL. Bahamas Air flies from Nassau into the North Eleuthera Airport (there are 3 airports on Eleuthera). From there, you can take a $4 one-way taxi cab (5 minutes) to the water taxi which is $4 one-way (approx 10 minutes) to Harbour Island. Harbour Island is off the northeast tip of Eleuthera and was originally settled by Eleuthrian Adventurers (religious dissidents) who were shipwrecked on the Devils Backbone, a ragged shallow reef that has ... read more
