hey:) after my volunteering time in huancayo i´ve been back on the road. and when i say that, i mean many many hours... to start with i followed my original plan and made my way to NAZCA. that was about an 18 hours trip from huancayo...but definately worth it to see the nazca lines. nowadays it´s still not really clear how and why they have emerged..there are many theories. some of them trace them back to ancient nazca people, but they have no idea how they could have made the lines since they are so big that you can only really see the shapes from far above...that's also why a booked a flight in a little chesna to see them from the sky:) was quite an experience...you can really feel every little brease of wind in ... read more

hey:) finally found a free minute to write about the volunteering project I'm doing here in Peru. Short version for everybody who only wants a quick update: It's absolutely amazing and the people are incredible:) now a bit more detail: the organisation is called TINKUY PERU and is based in Huancayo, a city in the mountains of Peru. All the volunteers, and many other people ( mainly family members but you're never quite sure how many there actually are...) live in a big house with Tino and his family. Tino is the person who takes all the work and responsability upon himself to run the whole thing... the whole thing being the "andean shool", "the mountain project" and volunteers also help out in an orphanage...so there's plenty to do:) first thing i have to mention: compared ... read more

hey hey everybody:) hope you're all well! had quite an exciting few days since i last updated. first good news, i managed to get over that annoying episode of food poisoning. all good again and munching all sorts of goodies 24/7 as usual:) the alfajores they make here are really to recommend....sooo much "dulce de leche"...sweeter than heaven! my trip from bolivia to peru was quite comfortable...well, whatever that means in bolivian terms. the first part of the trip went from copacabana to puno. as soon as i got on the bus with my argentinian friends I got kindly reminded of the friendliness of english people. there was this family of 5...sitting in our seats. so far not really a problem, up to that moment when i asked, in the politest way, if they were sure ... read more

hey:) today is my last day in bolivia. i'm waiting for the bus to cuzco right now. went to see the "isla del sol" yesterday. on a 4 hours hike! really impressive to see the gradle of the inca culture...well at least according to the legend! it says that manco kapac and mama ocllo, the two first incas appeared there, on the sacred rock. They also call it roca "titicarca"...means puma rock. with a lot of imagination you can recognize a puma's head in the rock and the head of one of the gods...well then again, they smoked quite a lot back in that time;) also met this really cool argentinian couple. they're gonna join me on the ride to cuzco now, so at least that won't be boring! i'll update soon, cari... read more

I started off in SANTIAGO DE CHILE. thought i should go there to see what i'm gonna miss out on by not studying there for a year. and i can confidently say: i'm happy i'm gonna ... read more
