The government has very clearly established that it is against the law to joke about terrorism at the airport. Meaning: I should probably shave this beard. ... read more

I'm trying to go as light as possible. My mom called me at 6am this morning, likely just after receiving a voicemail message with the news that I'm leaving tomorrow. (Again, sorry) I've superglued a Canadian flag onto a fairly prominent spot of the backpack, trusting that my government will not commit any shameful act while I'm traveling abroad. We'll see how this works out. I leave in 4 days, and though I talked to my sister about the trip today, I still haven't told my mother. I may wait until I'm actually out of the country to call her. ... read more
