Adam's Blog: A couple of days in Canmore and we had the place worked out...and some day trips planned for every second day to visit the key areas. The weekend snow had abated, but it was still cool, so with little opportunity left, we headed to the Ice Skating rink for a go - first time for all except Al who brought back memories of teenage roller and ice derbies. The lone female olympian practising on the rink did not put us off, although our figures hugging the walls and lack of grace on the ice may have put her off. We couldn't quite master the double toe loops and gave up on the plushenko's...still we had some fun. Our first day trip out was to Banff, home of the Canadian Rockies - 20 mins away ... read more

On the weekend we played at the park and there was lots of people there. We played with bubbles and some went in my mouth and it was yucky. Kit and I went on the flying fox a lot of times. There was a girl named Sophia, we played together. After that we played Tiggy and everybody was taking my shoes. We went to the pool and Kit didn't go down the slide. We had spaghetti for lunch...Kit calls it 'Spallabonase' After that we played in the park and got all dirty. The next day we went to the shops but Mum forgot her purse so we came home and watched TV all morning. After that we went to the pool and played with some boogie boards left behind. I watched an adult movie with Mum ... read more

Adam's Blog: We continued our stay at Invermere...with a trip to Panorama Mountain a ski village and Grey Wolf golf resort...The drive up the valley was very scenic as the snow melt had the river running fast ready for raft adventurers. We had a lunch stop with the locals and a chat with a girl from Melbourne at the pro shop out for a year - apparently there are 3000+ young aussies in Canada mainly Whistler/Rockies so we aren't too much of a novelty. The talk of bears returned as with Spring - they have come out of their dens from hibernation looking for food or showing their cubs the ropes and getting the limited food that is around. This footage shows it well: (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nG02fwZBflw&feature=related) I booked 9 holes for the next day at the acclaimed ... read more

Mum has this fear that every plant is poison ivy...she freaks out when we go walking through the woods. When we went to enchanted forest we went inside a castle and saw a talking wizard...he wasn't scary. We went downstairs to the dungeons, there was a ghost with one eye...Kit thought it was really real. After that we saw a house and you could go inside it and there was a slide - it was a very small house. We saw a tunnel and went in it. We arrived in Invermere and I went to a toy shop and bought a blow up tube for the pool and the book diary of a wimpy kid. After that we went to the pool and I went down the slide that ended up in the water, it was ... read more

Adam's Blog: Our week in Invermere has been leisurely as we settled into our new home. We are staying in a purpose built development called Lakeside Meadows - approx. 10 years old. It seems talking to locals that when they opend up a new road across the Rockies from Banff/Columbia Valley, Invermere became the beneficiary (or as some locals would put it basketcase) of development. Alberta & people of Calgary had been going through a boom period (their 3rd in past 50 years), as a result of Oil & Gas resulting in many cashed up Calgarians - at least up until the financial crisis in 08/09. Many have bought into develpments such as Lakeside and you can see why... Beautiful (log/natural stone alpine style) homes with panoramic views, on estates near to exquisite golf courses, private ... read more

(Sorry no photos) Oliver - We went to where Avrey was staying at a campground, we had spaghetti pasta and played on the tyre swing. The next day Avrey came over and we watched spongebob square pants then had taco', they were yummy - but Avrey did not have any. We got soaked in the sprinkler and Foster thought we would get warm beside a disco ball in the garage. We left Oliver and drove up to a resort and the pool was green. We went exploring and saw beavers and a pony that looked like a donkey but it was a mule. After that we got ice cream. My favourite part of the trip to the next place was stopping off at Enchanted Forest where they had small houses and nursery rhymes. I had my ... read more
