North America » Mexico » Baja California » Ensenada July 5th 2010

Adam's Blog: After a full on Disneyland extravaganza, we wanted to finish our holiday on a high so decided to cruise to Mexico for the July 4th Long Weekend, before heading home. We went with Carnival - known for having good time cruises, looking after kids and whilst only a 4 day / 3 night trip it was a taste of part of Mexico - Ensenada actually, for us. We checked out of the Hyatt - grabbed a taxi and again sped along the freeway and despite some very clear directions to go to where the Queen Mary cruise ship was stationed - I saw our ship and the Queen Mary disappear in the mist as we headed over a bridge to San Pedro....hey buddy turn around you are going the wrong way! Nothing like an ... read more

Adam's Blog: We arrived in LA after a very hasty ride on the freeways and the taxi driver getting up to 80mph!, whilst listening to the World Cup at full volume and Mexico losing (his expletives being heard by all)!!, then deciding to ring his mates on the mobile(cell) and tell them how he felt - oh and in one case driving with no hands! he got no tip. We stayed at the Hyatt at Anaheim and it was verrry nice after a recent reno job, just 10 minutes down the road on a free shuttle to Disneyland...being first timers our eyes were pretty wide open and those that have been will know what we mean...Despite it being flat for miles around, smoggy and in the city - it felt like a holiday oasis on its ... read more

Adam's Blog - Norwegian Pearl Alaskan Cruise: IF EVER YOU WERE THINKING OF DOING AN ALASKAN CRUISE.........DO IT Ok so we are a bit excited. Yes it is eveything they say it is and to top it off the NCL Norwegian Pearl was a great ship to take us there for a family. Sunday morning and we were well organised onto the ship and into our cabin...on deck 8. The ship was built in 2008 and the flagship of NCL so everything was polished up.As we had just spent 11 weeks as a family together our holiday was meant to be for all so a little bit of space outside the cabin if you know what I mean was the GO....so first things first the kids were booked into kids club and the adults into the ... read more

Adam's Blog: Hi folks - back on line again after a week on the high seas to Alaska....the internet rates were pretty exorbitant $1.50 a minute.....so waited till we got back to LA....Anyway time to update our travels....going back to week 11 with some lovely photos to scan through: When we checked out of Jasper we took quite an adventurous journey to Bridge Lake which was 4 hours away, firstly spotting a black bear on the side of the road - 'blink and you'll miss it' then some elk..look out! Leaving the Rockies left us feeling we had seen some amazing scenery and wildlife.....we soon arrived at Bridge Lake as per my last entry - a fishing and camping haven.....now you can think here nice thoughts like camping in the woods, the pristine freshwater lakes, aahhh ... read more

Adam's Blog: (We'll be jumping on our cruise ship soon so may not get a chance to update 11th week highlights later, so here goes now - without photos): We checked out of our hotel in Jasper Sunday morning early as with a 4 hour drive ahead it was going to be a busy day... The family finally realised my need to be at Bridge Lake by midday because as soon as we got there I turned the tv on to fina Australia were down 0-4 with 10 minutes to go against Germany....not happy....oohh well...Our highlight of the drive was eeing another black bear and elk on the road side. The drive down out of the Rockies was a constant roller coaster through valleys around lakes. We said goodbye to the snow capped mountains and found ... read more

North America » Canada » Alberta » Canmore June 18th 2010

Adam's Blog: It was Sunday so we took the opportunity to head back to Banff and the famous Castle-like Banff Springs Hotel for Brunch....The hotel is olde worlde with stunning setting over the Bow Valley....as you could imagine also very popular with tourists. Interesting fact - people would stay at the castle for 3 months at a time back in the 1920's and 30's for $50,000! Afterwards we went for a drive along the Bow Valley, stopping at the falls, then along the golf course. We found an interesting drive that took you along the golf course then into the national park....it was open park and we got to see a female moose closeup and then a coyote run behind our car - pretty impressive. On Tuesday we headed to Calgary for some retail therapy - ... read more

North America » Canada » Alberta » Canmore June 9th 2010

We got up early and drove to our next house. On the way we saw some mountains. We saw what had happened after a big bush fire. Lots of trees were burnt down. It took ages until we got to our new house. When we got there we had lunch with the people who lived there. We went to town and went to the dollar store, I couldn't buy a webkinz! After that we went to get some DVD's - we got Tooth Fairy, Fantasic Mr Fox, Spy next door and Princess & the Frog. The next day we had a quiet day at home - it was very boring, until we went Ice Skating - it was fun until I fell over and it hurt. On June 2nd we went to Banff Hot Springs and ... read more
