Well my first impressions of Busabout were great. Friendly people and staff, comfortable buses and overall fun atmosphere. After the short 4 hr ride we arrived in Brugge. On the way in we were told about a few specialties synonomous with Belgium. Beer. Waffles. Chocolate. What more could one ask for? I think they mention lace too but honestly they lost me at chocolate. Brugge is a beautiful small town. Cobble stone streets and old medievil style buildings. Even now, they build streets from cobble stone the hard way to maintain the ancient auro around the city. It was also my [View Full Entry]

After finding a cheap flight from Milan i arrived at Beauvais airport 80km north of Paris. It was late and the airport was tiny so i booked into a hotel in town....when i got there, i could hear someone snorring so loudly from the room next to me, and sure enough, he was still goin when i woke up! Caught the train the next moring to Paris Nord. its a massive as station, it looks bigger than melbourne airport! also they have army guards with machine guns walking round....tough neighbourhood! once i was settled in i cought up with ash. we [View Full Entry]

Tuscany (Chianti) Europe » Italy » Tuscany
Well Tuscany is one of the most beautiful places i have ever seen. The mixture of grape vines, olive groves, and medievil buildings and houses everywhere really is unique and special. We arrived at out apartment to find a beautiful monestary type building that was built in the 1300's that had been converted into 9 apartments. the first day we were there my whole family and i witnessed a very tragic incident. We were coming round a tight bend in the road and some cyclists flagged us down. Soon we saw a whole tour group on bikes. Something had happened to [View Full Entry]

Duomo, Florence

Headed off towards to the Amalfi coast today, via pompei. After several hours of driving, we arrived in Pompei and had lunch before entering the ruins. Once we got into the ruins, I could fully appreciate why the ancient city is so popular amoungst tourists and historians alike. The way they town has been craved out from the ash, still in remarkable condition, really is a rare insight into ancient history. One of the things in Pompei that amazed us all was there were these little drinking fountains made out of large marble rocks. You could actually see in the worn [View Full Entry]

Rome, Happy Camping Europe » Italy » Lazio » Rome
We arrived in Rome and set out for the car rental shop. A considerable amount of time later we found the car but unfortunately we realised we didnt have the address for our camping ground. We struggled to explain the situation to the workers at the rental company but eventually we were able to get him to call them to get the address for us,. Our first experience on Italian roads was fairly successful, once we had realised that it is a big no, no to sit in the left hand lane!!! You got to move over when the $100,000 Merc [View Full Entry]

The overnight train from Hungary was an experience. It was strange how the compartment just turned into 6 beds. When we arrived the view from the front of the station was incredible! It is so strange to see water, instead of roads. We checked into our hotel then went out for an explore around the islands. The little alleys are were trickey as to negotiate but its fun getting lost there. When we got to San Marcos square it was cool because i recognised it from movies like The Italian Job and Just Married etc etc. However the abundance of tourists [View Full Entry]
