Wow! I can remember my Dad telling me when I was young that his uncle was a soldier (or a sailor) on the first boat that sailed around the Cape of Good Hope in the Boer War (1900) and was granted land in South Africa by Queen Victoria. The document was in the Baker family at one time but I'm sure it has been lost since then.
