This last leg was a doozy! By that, I mean we´re completely pooped. I´m sitting at the internet cafe in the Lima Airport right now waiting to catch my flight back to BA at midnight. We´ve seen 4 cities in about 6 days and we´re sleep deprived and burnt out on touristic tours to prove it! We flew into Cuczo on the 17th and spent the night there at this huge hostel called Loki Backpackers that housed around 200 people! The down side was the hostel set on top of the hill above the city (yet again) and hiking up to [View Full Entry]

We arrived in Rio at 7am on Sunday and went straight to a hostel in the neighborhood of Santa Teresa which is on a hill overlooking the city center. What the guidebook didn't say, after the taxi had already left, was we had to climb about 6 flights of stairs outside in the drizzling rain to actually reach the entrance of the hostel since it was literally on the side of the hill. But we got checked in a settled in, and after recovering from the climb walked back down the hill and caught a bus to the hippie market that [View Full Entry]

So I finally finished exams and classes in BA, came out with a B average and my GPA didn´t go down, which I can´t complain about since I was studying abroad. Victoria, another girl from the CofC program decided last minute to travel with me! So now I have company with my grandparents and parents are happy about! We flew out of BA on the same day everyone else in our group flew home, we just left bright and early that morning at 6am and they left that night. We flew all day, changed planes in Porto Alegre, Brazil and finally [View Full Entry]

Well.....it's been a while yet again, but here a final Buenos Aires update before I leave on my trip to Brazil and Peru before FINALLY returning HOME to the good ol' US of A!!! (can you tell I'm excited?) Don't get me wrong I have loved every minute of it, and wouldn't regret it for the world, but all good things come to an end, and when that end is near and you are expecting it.....you just can't wait for it to finally happen, especially if that end involves seeing your friends and family that you haven't seen in 4 months!!! So we pit stopped in Buenos Aires on Tuesday the 18th for one day to wash clothes and re-pack for Spring Break. Now heres the thing, we had reserved plane tickets for a 5hr flight to El Calafate which is at the tip of South America, almost the end of the world! But the day before we went to buy the tickets they raised the price and supposedly "called" us to inform us that they were raising the price and if we wanted to buy them at the price we reserved them under we needed to come that day, but none [View Full Entry]

HELLO! So, it has been a WHOLE month since I have gotten on here, it's about time right! Anyways we finally went on our first school sponsored excursion since the last on got canceled (or rather it's been postponed now until April the 17th). Two weeks ago we traveled to the Northwest of Argentina visiting several pueblos in the provinces of Salta and Jujuy. We flew out of Buenos Aires on the morning of Thursday the 13th of March arriving that afternoon. Then we took a bus to our hotel in the city of Salta, fended for dinner ourselves that night [View Full Entry]

Okay, it's been more than two weeks since I last published an entry and SOOO much has happened. Sorry, I haven't been able to update it sooner, I have had more homework and been doing more stuff than you can imagine!!! Three weekends ago, I just stayed in Buenos Aires and got some homework done and such. Then we had three days of classes and we were supposed to take our first official excursion (planned by CofC) to Iguazu Falls (which are like the Niagra Falls of South America but bigger) in the Misiones province, but the trip was canceled [View Full Entry]

Hola Todas! I know it's been awhile, but things have been a little hectic around here lately. We found out that Carnaval is more of a Brasilian (Brazil) celebration and there really isn't all that many fiestas or gatherings in Argentina. But four of us including me went to see a traditional Tango Show two weekends ago at a place called Bar Sur (South Bar) which is one of the oldest tango establishments in Buenos Aires in the barrio (or neighborhood) of San Telmo which is known for its Tango and lively theater and arts scene. And on the night we [View Full Entry]

Where do I even start? So much has happened since my last entry that I don't even know where to begin to cover it all! But here it goes. When we left off, I told everyone we would be going to the beach this weekend, but plans got pushed back since Carnaval, which is like their Mardi Gras, starts tonight! So were saving the big beach trip weekend to Uruguay for this coming weekend: Feb. 8-10. Alright, I've been attending intensive Spanish classes for a week now, although to be honest they were not so intensive as we thought they [View Full Entry]

TODAY WAS AN ADVENTURE AND A HALF!!!! It was a long day today we took a Spanish pre-test, a 2hr written, which I placed into the advanced group, and a 15 minute oral exam but we went two by two so the oral took 2hrs as well because I was in the last two to go. Then we missed our stop on the bus back home and went WAYYYYYY out in the ghetto suburbs to the bus station had to walk a couple of blocks and catch another one going back, IT TOOK TWO HOURS IN ALL.
