You get what you pay for
I am sorry to hear about your experience. I agree with Angie; you stayed in the worst place and in the worst conditions I can imagine. I have been to India many times and had a very relaxing holidays. If you go there next time and if you pay for a hotel like what you pay in America you will come back with a positive feeling.

NICE BLOG
Dear Mr. Ben, I think you had lots of travelling around India....But the India you see is only the upper peel...India is like a pineapple....rough and scrubby fron outer side but pulpy and sweet from inside...So i think you just saw the upper layer...To understand India, u have to LIVE INDIA...And thats a pretty difficult thing to do....We are the oldest culture alive...Still untamed by the 100 years of british rule.....The essence of India lies in its rare unorganised but very finely laid down organised culture....And even that is very rare to ,find....Its not all about charas and dirt..We are a poor country...Who wouldn't be witha population as large as ours...a system that runs on british laid down ethics and structure...But real India is very different fro what you saw...We shout on Wagah border to celebrate..for you would always find the utmost peace ina very noisy place...See the excitement on their faces...they are delighted and motivated to shoo off their rival country and how would the people in your country do that????So Mr. Ben...please dont expect all the luxuries here..We are economically behind but our hearts are much far away...the spirituality is at its peak here than in any other place in world....In a nutshell, the beauty of India is to be lived not seen...Next time if you come here...please contact me....I will take leve from my job and will let you live the India.....My India.....

I can't believe you.
You stayed in one of THE poorest part of India, took pictures of the WORST parts. Did you travel up North? Did you bother doing research, trying to see which half of the country was f*ing developed, so you could enjoy Indian culture in cleanliness and comfort? No. It's people like you who make India look like a horrible place. You only show the worst parts, not even bothering to truly travel. You stayed in an impoverished area and complained about everything. Next time don't go to a poor part of India! Holy shit. My city is Chandigarh. It's not even the most developed part of India, but it's JUST like a city in North America (in the sense that the infrastructure and cleanliness are awesome...) I'm usually really mellow, but reading your post offended me almost as badly as when this religious Muslim girl defended pedophelia. I don't know what else to say. You are really unfair.

Amazing pics!
Hello! Thanks for sharing you experiences and pics - lovely! I'd been on the same trek recently - but did it one day - torture! And as for Malana, it's all burnt up now - there was a fire early this year - as your pics are all the more valuable, and insightful... Your welcome to read my blog at: http://himachalholidays.blogspot.com/

Nice meeting you in busy and very hot Amritsar, lucky we got out little trouble after we left. You were there when my photos decided to disapear on the roof of the bus, think it was when you were throwing your guts round the back of the petrol station. You carried out that process of throwing like I do breathing, a natural occurance. In Singapore now and if I am really honest a tiny bit different than Delhi, can't put my finger on what it is but somethings different. The first bigmac and whopper were great had the whopper at 0830 in Bangkok Airport. I am trying to track Rezza, he is down here somewhere so hopefully will meet up with him. Anyway nice meeting you and I guess your next stop is Ethiopia, well whats left, an AK47 strapped to a locals back sat next to you in an internet cafe is always a bit of a twitcher!!.

Hil-arious!
Your blog entry is rib-cracking to be perfectly honest. I am an India myself, so I guess patriotism demands me to be agitated by your peeing-on-fellow-countrymen and whatnot. But actually, the thing is, not all Indians accept stuff like this either. Me and my family, for example , make it a point to only travel to clean places like Goa where there are minimal chances of seeing cows on the road, or worse, getting punched by pissy drivers. I would like to skip on making a speech of just how India can be shaken out of its crappy image. But thats for later. Hope you keep coming back here. There's more to India than meets the eye really.

dude this is amazing
dude, your trip sounds unreal. you pulled this shit off, and did it authentically the real indian way. by the way the israeli thing, i'm totally with you on that, it bugs me how much they haggle and work the local economy (saw it this summer in peru). the israelis i've met/travelled with are always a good time, but sometimes i just can't grasp their mentality (excuse the stereotyping, its like stereotyping loud/obnoxious americans) can't wait to hear more when you are back dude!
