Discover Luang Prabang

Two days of boat on the Mekong. That's what it took to reach the city of Luang Prabang from Huay Xai, our departing point Laos after crossing the Thai border in the northwest of the country. The Mekong River, which originates in Tibet, is the third in Asia and the eighth in the world in term of length. He traveled some 4500 km and successively through China, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam, where his famous delta results in the South China Sea. The economic importance of a river of this size hardly explains the presence, on its course, of several major cities of Southeast Asia, such as Vientiane, Phnom Penh and Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). Holiday in Vientiane

At 9:30 it's 25 degrees and beautiful sun, I walked across the terminal Everything is under construction, road, building, pavement. I reached Vientiane after 20 hours on the flight. I lunched at a restaurant whose tables were made from old sewing machine. It was really hot but the meal was very good. Vientiane, the capital of Laos, has only 200000 inhabitants. It is really quiet here, people are nice but the air is stuffy. It seems rather a small provincial town. It is still quite dirty, and sometimes we have to be careful with some sidewalk. Most inscriptions on the building ofiiciels are translated into French. I feel like travelling in Thailand since you could pay for service here by baht or USD. Meeting up in Vientiane

After some galley of talking to Laotian receptionist and leave a message in the shabby guesthouse saying I've found Macthieu at Vientiane. We, Mathieu and I had dinner out in a faily good Indian restaurant before taking a tuk-tuk for the temple of Pha ThatLuang one of the biggest in Laos. In the morning one of the employee of the guesthouse told me about "party tonight last night at stupa.." We fall on what is the biggest holiday of Laos, which takes place during three day in November when the moon is full. The city is swarming with people, easiy several dozens thousand persons.
