Absolutely fascinating. I'm going to read all your blogs about your travels, bit by bit. . What an accomplished storyteller ! Where do you get the time to write AND travel ??? My eldest daughter took her young son to Sabah recently on a packaged tour for a "cultural experience " as she termed it. I'm sending her your blog address to really see what can be done. She'll have to save some $$ though. Thankyou so much for sharing your travels with this old 1960's 3rd-class backpacker fellow. Brian. PS. I now make "Hikerswool" for trampers and Hikers etc. helps to keep me contected to people who are interested in "remote" places .

sucked in... - From: Zen and the art of Rickshaw Management
hey em... wow - that's nuts because when i was there i nearly, very nearly got sucked into paying 400yuan for my taxi to my hostel by one of those people at the airport that hassle you, but, luckily, and thanks to my lonely planet (which is the only thanks it'll get) i realised this was about 5 times more than i SHOULD pay. Even in rush hour traffic it only cost me 120yuan and i was in there for an hour! he he he... you're now in Mongolia yes? xxx star

Your photos and stories are so vivid, thanks for the morning inspiration Em. We found it hard to talk to single people as a couple in Africa, even though we were dying to talk to someone other than each other after a few weeks, argh! Better go to work, enjoy the first part of Mongolia. I look forward to the next installment X

Thanks for the heads up - From: Zen and the art of Rickshaw Management
Hey Em, glad to hear you made it ok. Thanks for the informative experience with the taxis you shared with us. Kath and I were thinking we would just get one from the airport to our hotel but maybe we'll organise for someone from the hotel to meet us at the airport instead. Might save us a bit of time and money in the long run. Looking forward to getting amongst it. Take care x

definite itinerary dilemmas - From: Zen and the art of Rickshaw Management
Hey Mirjam! I'm heading to Ulaanbaatar on Wednesday, but if you want to meet me in Mongolia I have a few days free at the end of my trip (October 11 - 13). It's a bit out of the way, I guess. It's a shame I'm not a bit more flexible with dates... it sucks to have a definite end to the trip. Don't forget to get in touch when you get to NZ. Have fun and ride safely. xx

Any additional stirring up of Felix and Claire that I have been credited for was accidental. From memory I laughed at the tense situation and this was misinterpreted as a "stir" which resulted in angry glances and subtle silencing of myself by the story teller. I'm innocent I tell you! (at least in this case)
