Started from Lukla... after 1 day rush preparing my permit, buying some mountain gears, arranging my tibet visa, and finally bought my Yeti Air ticket to Lukla... leaving Kathmandu next day early in the morning, I finally arrived in Lukla after 15-20 min flying. It felt so good to smell the fresh air of d'mountain again... and d'cold wind was quite a big change after d'hot Kathmandu. Around 7a.m. I was ready to hit the trail of legendary Everest. It was not my first intention to hire a porter or guide. However, as I saw everybody was with their guide and porter... I started to think about should I get one or not. I didn't find any single trekkers that I could hook up together to do this, and my publications on finding a trekking partner ... read more

I found myself back in Thailand,,, but where to go this time? It's a tough decision considering so many options available on my 'things to do list' while in Thailand. Depending on how many days you'd like to spend there, you do have a broad choices on where to go and where to stay. And all places in Thailand have it's own charm,,, at least I can guarantee that Thai people is one of d'kindest kind in human race history... and d'variation of d'food available is as tasty as my appetite to cruise d'countryside of this Budha's kingdom. This time, I picked Ayyuthaya and Pitchabury as my highlight on this trip. Ayyuthata is about 2-3 hours drive, almost same distance as Pitchabury from Bangkok. And as I mention earlier, each place in Thailand has its own ... read more

After having some problems with my flight Biman Bangladesh Air that supposed to fly me to Dhaka'n'Kathmandu and suddenly they cancelled my flight (this airline is quite unreliable in terms of schedule; they can change schedule as they wish, and in my case, they just decided to stop the route from Bangkok-Dhaka-Kathmandu while actually I have already paid for the ticket and they didn't even bother to transfer me to other airline). I was stranded in d'airport without knowing what to do. The airline blame d'travel agent for selling the ticket, and the travel agent blame d'airline for cancelling the flight. So none of the airline and travel agent want to take responsibility on this. I was so frustated, since I did'nt want to stay any extra nights in Bkk just because of this problem. I ... read more

It's just today that suddenly I feel like going back to Nepal to do Everest Base Camp and other side trek like Kalapathar, Chola Pass, and may be Island Peak Summit. I only have lesser than 2 weeks preparation, and now I'm trying to schedule it for beginning May arrival in Kathmandu and start right away from Lukla. I would be very lucky, if I can hook up with travel buddies along the way that wanna do the same trek with me because I don't really wanna go with a group. Anyway,,, if I dont get any responses on this post soon, I will still try to manage it by myself... hopefully meeting interesting people along the way. Here is my itenerary, althought it's not yet final since I haven't included Island Peak Summit because I'm ... read more

That was quite a few months ago I happened to witness the rare occassion which is the cremation of Ubud's King in Bali. I just have a chance to write a little about it now and upload a few pictures. I enjoyed so much this gala ceremony although I didnt understand that much the meaning of each step of the ceremonies. The Ubud people have been doing lots of rituals for months for the preparation of this gala event. This ceremony was one of the biggest cremation for decades. Sorry that I can't write much about this from the culture perspective due to my limited knowledge, i'd just like to share some pictures taken on that glorious day. Hope you enjoy it, because I did!... read more

May 14th… Manang - Yak Kharka - Letdar We woke up in the morning back in Manang, feeling content with our nice room, clean blanket, and attached toilet… How could we be happier? Smelling the nice coffee and bakery being baked when you just opened your eyes… Yes, you could absolutely smell it! It made up my day… made my spirit high thinking that my breakfast would be a good coffee and tuna sandwich, and may be brownies??? Or may be chocolate croissant every body? It’s hard to resist not to taste every single items they display in the front of the bakery shop. I still remembered how I always managed to finish every single bite of big portion Tuna Lasagna they have in their menu. Back home, I never really triggered to have lasagna menu ... read more

TILICHO LAKE May 9th … Manang - Khangsar I'm getting really excited dreaming of Tilicho Lake already. I don't know why but this place seems to be so important for me to visit as the highest lake in this region (Tilicho is not the highest lake in the world i just found after the trek, there is the highest one in Tibet actually above 6,000m). So by leaving Manang after lunch time heading to Khangsar, I'm only one and half days away from Tilicho Lake. I didn't remember how long we walked from Manang to Khangsar, may be it took us about 3 - 4 hours, so by around 5pm we have already arrived in Khangsar. Walking to Khangsar was quite a nice walk, I only remember 1 part where we had to go so uphill ... read more

I arrived in Pokhara by Greenline bus around 3pm in the afternoon, catched a cab to Shangrila right away and relaxed a bit. I took a cab to the lake side for sunset and had dinner there. The next morning, i went to peace pagoda, tibetan refugee and devi's fall and back at shangrila around 12pm. Dipu (my trekking companion) already wait for me in the lobby. We got to know each other and talked for a while, and met up again in afternoon to go to the lake side again and eat in Nepalee traditional restaurant. The next day, he picked me up to stay with his family, did the last preparation for the circuit like buying medicines, checking our trekking list, and a day after we started the circuit. I tried my first dal ... read more

Okay, so I arrived on Friday 25th in Kathmandu around 3.50pm, leaving Bangkok at 13.55pm. Flew with Royal Nepal Airline. Had a long queue to process the visa on arrival... you need to prepare 2 passport photos to do this. Local staffs looked at me and asked me to move to Nepali passport control line (they must have thought I were Nepali now!). This is what happened with my adaptable face, I can be local everywhere I go. Visa on arrival costed around 30 USD (or 40??), I forgot already. Taxi to Thamel area is around 400 Rupee. There are so many tourist hotel in Thamel and Jathaya area, and I chose to stay at Jathaya since it's not as noisy as Thamel. It's both close by anyway... I have 2 days time to explore this ... read more
